A Habs Fans Take at Cap Hell

Created by: SlafCaufZuki

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don’t know if the contracts and the trade values were accurate, but if they weren’t let me know.

Also, after making this, I realized how ****ed Tampa is. Either they lose one of their young guys to an offersheet of their have to trade away a third of their forwards rip.

Trades
1.
TBL
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (COL)
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Killorn is a good player, but getting rid of cap is the top priority for Tampa Bay.
COL
  1. Killorn, Alex
Additional Details:
If Colorado misses out on the big UFAs, this deal would be good for them. Killorn would probably waive his M-NTC, since Colorado is a great team like Tampa.
2.
TBL
  1. 2021 5th round pick (PHI)
MTL
  1. Paquette, Cédric
  2. 2021 7th round pick (NJD)
3.
TBL
  1. 2021 5th round pick (NSH)
4.
TBL
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (DAL)
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Palat, Ondrej
Additional Details:
I know that Dallas needs a playmaker, but they still get a good, responsible winger for cheap.
5.
TBL
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (WPG)
WPG
  1. Johnson, Tyler
Additional Details:
The Jets get a decent, offensive 2C that can blossom with their wingers.
6.
TBL
  1. Hutton, Carter
  2. Miller, Colin
Additional Details:
Tampa gets a 2RD and a more expensive backup to help balance the cap in the trade.
BUF
  1. Gourde, Yanni
  2. Katchouk, Boris
  3. McElhinney, Curtis
  4. 2021 2nd round pick (COL)
  5. 2021 2nd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Buffalo gets some futures for taking on Gourde’s contract. While Gourde isn’t as bad as people claim (he had 40 points in 70 games), his contract still isn’t that good considering he was playing in Tampa. They also get a better, cheaper backup goalie.
7.
TBL
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. Lindgren, Charlie
Additional Details:
Tampa gets a good, cheap winger and a 3rd goalie.
MTL
  1. 2021 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Similar to Goodrow and Coleman trades.

the question is whether each of those guys waives. my prediction is that they trade away coburn, killorn and paquette but cannot get johnson and/or palat to waive so theyre forced to trade either serga or cernak. Cirelli stays IMO. Also, Johan Larsson gets alot more than that imo. i think he could push 2-2.5M AAV

Agreed. If they can convince a bunch of guys to waive their NMC and NTC's then there really isn't a problem for TB. Many are only assuming, myself included, that why would they?

Tampa is one of the most desirable teams in the league in virtually every aspect. If you play there and signed a contract that stops you from being traded away, Im pretty sure you really want to stay.

So just the 5 players waiving NTC's then (4 of them full NTC's). I don't see it happening. These guys took paycuts to stay in Tampa and have families. Maybe 1 might waive but I don't see all 5 doing it.

MTL is more likely to OS TBL in this position where they cant protect Sergachev and Cirelli despite all these moves they're still low balled on their deals

For MTL they have a chance to offer Sergachev 7.5m for 7 years knowing TBL cant match .
MTL can win the Drouin-Sergachev deal by ending up with both
trading Armia for MTL makes no sense given how weak out RW is as its Gallagher and Armia with random skaters in the other 2/4 slots for 2-3 years now.

all trades are reasonable but the team is much weaker. If you look a year out they are literally a shell of a team. I see either McDonah or Sergachev being traded. Next year both are capable of top pairing so you cannot keep both and expect one to be third pairing. At the forward position the most expendable are Gourde, Johnson and Paquette.

This is all fun but none of us know who waives and if offer sheets are coming. History says there are very few.

DAL accepts if you split the picks up between a couple of years. 2nd in 2021 and 3rd in 2022 or something.

Absolutely! Killorn can be traded without his consent but that's about it. Why would Palat, Johnson and Gourde waive? Little/no reason. There is a real serious possibility that Tampa will have to take an offer sheet on Sergachev and live with it. If a team comes to him just shy of that $8.450,000 lid, that's a boatload of money and Sergachev probably signs it and there's no way Tampa can match it. Montreal? Winnipeg? Would Sergachev want to go to either of those places?

Lightning are in serious trouble.
