Gaudreau

Created by: tony135420

Initial Creation Date: Jul. 30, 2020
Published: Jul. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is totally unrealistic, but I would love to see a top 6 like that! LA runs away with that trade for sure, but I had to do something drastic to facilitate the Gaudreau trade.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Lizotte, Blake
  2. Roy, Matt
  3. 2021 1st round pick (LAK)
  4. 2021 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
1st would be top 10 protected, transferring to a 22 1st. Leafs get a younger bottom 6 forward and a 2nd/3rd pairing rhd on good contracts.
LAK
  1. Engvall, Pierre
  2. Kerfoot, Alexander
  3. Rielly, Morgan
Additional Details:
LA gives their rebuild more of a retool. Top pairing LHD, solid 3C/LW that can be effective in a top 6 winger role as well and a bottom 6 winger in Engvall. All on good contracts with term. Even though they do also take a huge cap hit, it would still leave them approx. 12M to to sign 5 players. Without giving up anything out of their core. A first is the only thing that could produce something substantial.
2.
CGY
  1. Holl, Justin
  2. Johnsson, Andreas
  3. Kapanen, Kasperi
Additional Details:
Flames get 2 middle 6 wingers and a solid 2nd pairing rhd on a good contract. Also a 2nd. This trade would leave them with approx. 14M to sign 7 more players, keeping in mind all of these signings would be bottom 6 forwards and bottom pairing defensemen.

Why would a rebuilding team want Rielly? Personally I don’t hate the trade for calgary but in reality they are going to want a nice centrepiece in the deal. Not 3 inferior players.

Also.... don’t really sign Barrie.

Reilly is only 26 and is a top pairing LHD. It’s not like he’s in the twilight of his career. He’s just entering his prime. Him alone is worth that package, add in a 26 yr old 40+ top 9 forward and a reasonably priced 23 year old bottom 6 winger Plus, what is most likely a late, a 1st. That sounds like something a rebuilding team would be all over.

I mean I wouldn’t be tied to Barrie, but I have a feeling he’s going to take a 1 year prove it deal and cash in in free agency next year. He seems to like Toronto and he would be getting top PP minutes with Reilly gone.

Kings aren't trading a 1st round pick anytime in the near future.

Rielly has two years left on the deal then he walks. Rebuilding teams don’t pay for short term benefits with draft picks.

You must have made a mistake in your typing....Barrie for 6m? It's about a decimal off. 600,000 on a PTO. He was horrid this season.
