Insanity, Buchnevich alone is better (brings more overall) than Strome and AG is worth more than a 2nd rounder. We easily pass

This is an interesting trade. I like Buch. I just don't know where he fits since we signed Pius Suter. Not suggesting Suter's automatically going to win the Calder, but I'm sure there is a suggestion from both sides (Hawks and Pius) that he'll get every possible opportunity. As a Hawks fan I wouldn't do the trade, but more so due to fit vs value of the trade itself. I think the value is fair.

Disagree. Strome had a down year in which his ppg is about equal to Buchnevich's career year. CHI upper management made one of the dumbest mistakes in the world last year. Strome had a minor ankle injury. So he sat for a few games, but when he came back they put him at wing. So...Strome proceeded to get 1 point in his next 11 games. He's just not a winger. It's the single dumbest move I've seen the Hawks make since 2012 when they thought Kane was a center. Strome's value is no doubt higher than Buchnevich's value. Strome as a center for the Hawks has 80 points in 95 games.

He is lol. Better at defense, faster, more physicality, better working player(he's one of our hardest workers)

Right, offensively Strome has a higher ceiling however the offense Buch brings is only 40% of his game where as Strome's in 3/4+ of his game

cgy is giving up last years 1st & a mid 2nd for a defense men that is gonna get overpaid & cant defend whatsoever, i dont think that is a "takes it & runs" situation

Except when you look at what ADA has done in 19-20, you have to take into account the fact that his D partner is Marc Staal, guy who can't skate, ADA has to watch over what Staal is doing ALL THE TIME, he can't do what a normal d-man would do

Not a fan of trading Strome, but if we did, this would be something I'd like to see. Might even be a little tilted in our favor, but we still have yet to see if Georgiev will be a starter.

Nope lol. His defensive zone starts were clearly league average (d-men like Hedman, Girard (who are considered to be better than ADA, rightly so in Hedman's case) have a lower defensive zone starts than ADA

I'm not going to try to sell you on Strome's speed. That's a losing argument. But I will say, don't assume he's the worst defensively. He doesn't get a lot of Dzone starts because Toews/Kampf can do that role better, but it doesn't mean he can't do it. You're right he is better offensively.

What makes 60% of Buch's game? I ask as an honest question. It feels like there's a lot of "eye test" to his game. I don't watch every single Rangers game so I do need to try to read into stats. He doesn't play the PK, ever. I know he has speed. Ok agreed. I'm not going to simply agree on physicality...there are different aspects of physicality. Strome goes hard to the net and in the dirty areas against Dmen and stands all. Wingers tend to get more hits against the boards and if you have more Dzone starts. Strome plays in the ozone more...theoretically having the puck when you can't hit someone.

I never said DS's bad at D, I said Buch is better

60% of his game is:
-skating
-2-way play
-working
-physicality

I mean it's entirely fine if you don't want to move that but objectively he's worth that and even more

I'm not saying you're wrong above. I just would prefer to have a .84ppg center than pay $3M+ for 1 year (until arbitration) of what you're describing above. I do believe what you're describing has value FOR SURE. Strome's younger, most cost controlled, a center, and IMO better. Cheers!

Georgiev = 2nd round pick. and Strome is way more valuable than Buch. Hawks decline
