JVR is a cap dump.
Patrick may never play again.

It's essentially Gaudreau, Kylington and a 3rd for Myers and a 1st

CGY wants Frost, not Patrick.

PHI fans need to realize at this point, Patrick holds little to no trade value until he proves that this debilitating migraine issue is sorted out.

Sure, I'd be willing to replace Patrick with Frost if necessary.

Gotta be willing to make some harsh decisions if you want to land an elite player.

Ignoring the fact that St. Louis would like to clear some cap space. They're giving up one of the better goaltenders in the league right now when there isn't a plethereua of good goaltenders to be found . If anyone should understand that, it's Philly. Then you're gaining one of the better faceoff centers in the NHL with solid stats and you're throwing in a second on top of that. St. Louis wouldn't need another defensemen at the point, so kulak isn't even considered. The only thing the blues could actually use is Laughton.

So imagine if someone said, hey Philly. Give us niskanen, courtier, and your second round draft pick for Sammy Blais.

Constant 40+ point players are not cap dumps. He might be a tad overpaid, but PHI can retain part of his salary if necessary.

Patrick is a question mark, but he can be replaced with Frost if necessary.

Well your comparison is hilariously off base, but you have a point.

But as you said in the first place, you absolutely shouldn't ignore the fact that Blues is saving a load of cap here. And usually those two, Allen and Bozak, are the most common cap dumps used on this site.

Wtf did you do? This is horrible for Philly. A bunch of unnecessary moves. Teams contending as is with prospects developing. Two guys need to be moved....JVR and Ghost that’s it. Gaudreau is a Luxury we can’t afford long term anyway nor should we part with assets like Myers or an unknown in Patrick to do it.

St Louis no deal

Hagg to Montreal is fine. Don’t want Kulak back though.

The time to move Ghost is after next season before the ED but I don’t hate that trade overall

Yes but if the blues are looking to clear cap it's with Steen. Replace Steen with bozak and then it's more likely

Just a heads up, you'll never get player like Laughton in such an exchange.

MTL declines Kulak will play top 6 if Romanov is ready. He’s a decent top 6 guy rn.

Dude chill. I'm just playing out.

And to be fair, in a hypothetical scenario where PHI goes after Gaudreau, players like Myers will absolutely be required.

If Romanov's ready, I can't see Kulak fitting your lineup. With Romanov, Chiarot and Mete to play, Kulak becomes a healthy scratch.

Philly doesn’t need Gaudreau.

Giroux
Lindblom
Farabee
JVR

That’s our Left-wing depth currently.

Coots
Hayes
Patrick (unknown status)
Frost

Our center depth and we move Frost for another left wing ?

Not a Flyers fan are you? It shows.

I understand why so many Flyer's fan want Gaudreau given he's a hometown kid and a phenomenal player, but he just doesn't fit our team needs at all. We have four top-9 quality LWs and we have some decent prospects to go along with that too. If the Flyers want to sign him once he reaches ufa status and not sign Giroux back, it would make sense, despite me wanting to G to retire as a Flyer. I have zero interest in trading for Gaudreau given the steep price it will take to accquire him.

Kulak as a healthy scratch is fine. He’s still better than Hagg.

I ain't a Flyers fan, but what does that have to do with anything?

I'm a Stars fan. And to be fair even us have the LW sorted in a way or two, but if there was a chance to acquire Gaudreau, I wouldn't hesitate doing the move.

JVR is still very good at hockey. Slightly overpaid but its not a terrible contract

The Blues have no use for Kulak, but will certainly take Laughton's faceoff & possession game. Keep Kulak and reduce the pick we send you to a 4th, and you've got a deal.

So Laughton for Bozak+Allen+4th?

In terms of value I think it's acceptable, but considering that PHI would be taking up to $7M in dead cap in this trade, I think the compensation needs to be more than a 4th.

Think I'd still settle for that 2nd. Lower than that and taking all that cap just isn't worth it.

You're acting like Allen and Bozak don't improve your team. They have trade value, and only one year left each. It's not like you're eating duds for years of cap here.

Oh, I do think they improve the team (I mean if I didn't then why the f*ck would I even entertain the idea of taking two cap dumps from Blues). But would they improve the team more than whatever other moves PHI could do with that 7 mil bucks? Bozak ain't that big of a upgrade from Laughton in itself and there's a lot of goalies avaliable in the free agency... I'd question that big time.

Most of those goalies are either meh or will cost more for longer.

Don't really see re-signing Elliott for one year being any worse option than taking Allen, considering Elliott will be at least twice cheaper.

Both would be 2Gs behind Hart anyway, so that slot is quite covered.
