I don't think Leddy gets back an early 2nd even with Ho-sang. I see him getting a late 3rd early 4th pick. Why the Dal Colle trade? I feel isles could swap with leafs RFA rights

You think Boychuk has Minni or any team with cap on his 8 team trade list?

That’s true, but there’s a possibility he ends up in the minors next season so maybe he would waive his NTC to be on an NHL roster.

Toronto accepts, theres a chance keefe can light a spark in Colle and he goes on to be a solid 3rd line LW with the leafs.

Cause there has to be something within him as he went 5th overall beating out Nylander, Vrana, Kapanen, etc

As a Wild fan I'm good with the trade but unless Wild move a couple defenseman Boychuk is in the AHL in Minnesota as well so he probably doesn't waive for Minnesota.

I agree, Wild are deep on defense. I’m just saying in general

It's also entirely plausible he gets bought out by the team acquiring him. Boychuk to sign anywhere, then waiving is actually irrelevant

That's a pretty steep buyout those first 2 years. A team would be better off dumping him in the minors.

I think it's within a $100k or so. You can only save about $1m by sending him down. Buyout is like $900k saved

His buyout is 5.17 million on the books the first 2 years and like 414k the next 2.

If he goes to the minors his cap hit is still $4.925m. So the difference is $245k. Plus the two years of 414k. Forget the trade in this post specifically, if you're getting a 1st + 2nd or B-prospect, is that not worth it? Even if you buy him out. Any team taking on Boychuk isn't going to be a contender. So it's all about collecting assets

Yes I think it is just saying I don't know if Boychuk is willing to except that kind of uncertainty but I mean it is a possibility just depends on the team he is traded to and their cap situation.

A lot is unknown, staple thinks Ladd and Leo are LTIR next year which helps. Leddy should still get a 2nd and 3rd, which means JB is the 7th d man, and I want to see bellows on this team

I think he would know his outcome ahead of time. Would not blindly waive to a non-contender without the assurance he isn't actually going to stay there

Putting a player in the AHL saves just 100,000 in cap. So unless there is a better player than Boychuyk to fill the 7th position it doesn't make sense for the Isles to demote him.

Grant Hutton will make 725 k next season , I’m pretty sure it would save 350 k in cap
