$875K? How about Sutter 50% retained coming back? or Baertschi?

If the Canucks want to resign Markstrom and Taffoli, I think a Virtanen trade has to be for picks or someone like Caleb Jones from Edmonton. Problem with including Sutter or Baerschi is that their contracts only have a year remaining. Real cap trouble comes next year when they need to resign Pettersson and Hughes.

If cap not a concern, I would prefer Virtanen for Montour

Kinda apprehensive trading an established top 4 for a potential head case

Head case over blown. 20 goal scorer who doesn't get much pp time, is very fast and can hit. Not many of those guys out there

He had 18 this year. I think it's fair to say he would have got 20.

so in other words, hes never scored 20 goals in a season and isn't a 20 goal scorer.

Montreal declines not because Middlestat or Bryson aren't good but because they would not be what the Habs are looking for. We would be trading a top 6 center and a top 4 LD because we have a plethora of players at both positions just to get back the exact same thing. That makes no sense. If Bryson was a RD or a proven top pairing LHD or Middlestat was a scoring winger sure that would make sense. That isn't the case and your not going to trade Dahlin, Skinner, Olofsson or Reinhardt so the only other thing of value we could get back in a trade involving Domi and Mete is the 8th OVA pick and a top 4 RHD prospect or top 6 winger prospect. They aren't going to be A prospects but more likely B or C level prospects.

The season was shut down because of a pandemic. I think it's fair not be literalist in this case. It's not like I'm calling the Canucks a playoff team right now.

So what do you make of him not dressing for the exhibition game?

Travis Green is hyper sensitive about match ups and specializations. Players are competing for very specific spots. Jake is competing with 2 other players for 1 spot (3rd line RW). I think Ferland is an intriguing option for Green. I think he was rewarding MacEwan for a good camp. Jake had a mediocre camp. Jake isn't known for his training camps.

I think that’s the problem MTL doesn’t have a bunch of top 6 centers. If they did they wouldn’t have signed Aho to an OS last year. They have some guys who may fit that role but they don’t. Not saying there isn’t some potential there, but they really need KK to make that step, because imo Domi is better on the wing and Danault is more suited to 2C. But I agree with you this is a bad trade for MTL, personally I think Mittlestadt is on the verge of being a bust.

Yeah I am looking for KK to really step up in the play in and show he can take a top 6 role. He doesn't have to be a beast and lead the team in scoring or anything like that just show he has the skills to take on a bigger role next year and perhaps push Danault to become better or risk losing his spot to KK.

No way we should make that Montreal trade. Bryson will be better than Mete. The rest I'm okay with so long as the 1st is top 10 protected
