Description
Adding Gourde and Beagle is a massive improvement in face offs which Buffalo desperately needs. Even as a cap dump Beagle can still kill penalties and win draws. Vancouver improves its defense while cutting payroll. Tampa may want more for Gourde, but they’ll also be thrilled to move his contract. Benn balances out the blue line, as a vet with a short term deal. Virtanen is the big piece in the Vancouver deal. Young, physical, in need of a new opportunity. Possible future linemates with Cozens.

Idk how Van could say no, Virtanen is in and out of the doghouse constantly, they're getting a top 4 RHD and move out Beagle which they really need to do, Benning would have to give this serious consideration, the only hang up would be what is Montour going to cost and if he fits plus they have Stecher to sign so is he going now if Montour is acquired and signed, pretty good deal for both sides imo though.

Buffalos biggest problems last year was their offensive output outside of Eichel (Mainly due to no centers) and poor goaltending. While Gourde is a strong winger, I don’t believe he a very good center and we NEED to get Mojo to the wing where his performance is much better.

I think the deals can work for the most part, maybe a little more for gourde than that. Beagle is slightly expensive but could take over Larry’s role nicely. And I love the Virtanen acquisition

Goaltending NEEDS to improve too. Ullmark is fine in a split, but should not be relied on as a consensus starter. They need to get a partner for him out-of-house as both Hutton and Johansson won’t get the job done

Kahun could center the line with Mojo then. The two of them seem to have really good chemistry. I believe that Johansson has not been given enough opportunity to prove that he could be the backup. It really depends on how he performs in camp, at the very least I think he would be better than Hutton. He has nothing left to prove in the AHL. I think Gourde would thrive in a top six role, I also think he can be a good Center who creates for his wingers.

TB says yes they need to shed salaries. Give Gourde minutes and top six forwards and he will score 20 plus and 45 or more points.

That is exactly what I’m thinking. Whether he can maintain a 40+ point pace for the next five years is the risk you take acquiring that contract. I think he can, you just have to convince him to waive his no trade clause.

He is destined to fourth line with a rookie ready to replace him. I think he will. He loves the game and during his drought he never took a shift off. I really like him just that we have an abundance of very good forwards. Tyler Johnson scored 29 goals last year and he is a third line center. Coleman scores 26 last year and also third line wing.

Were getting hosed by both of those.

If we take gourde TB is paying us heavily. Clearing up that much space for them would be a dumb move. Tb dug themselves a hole and we shouldn't be helping them out.

Montour is worth than virtanen alone and much more when you add 2 cap dumps.

Benn isn’t a cap dump, and I have already outlined why Beagle would not be useless. Adding Thatcher Demko would make this trade a huge one for Buffalo, but I doubt the Nucks give him up without more going back.

I believe Gourde is a top 6 player who got stuck in a logjam getting no ice time and had a bad year. If Adams could squeeze another asset from Tampa in this trade (for a late 7th round pick, AKA practically nothing) it becomes a steal.
