If you get rid of the retaining salary this is actually a pretty sweet deal for both teams. Just no possible way the sharks can take on that much cap and retain 3m so it’s unrealistic, but from a Sharks fan I like the idea.

Let’s just be real. I wouldn’t trade Meier for the three firsts. The oilers with this deal would be scary good and those firsts won’t be worth much. If you take back Jones instead of Sorenson it’s a much better deal imo

Neal has 3 years and scored 20 goals. Jones has 4 years and is a backup goalie at best... very different.

Yes Neal costs a 1st to move out but two 1sts for Meier whose QO is too high to ever match isnt a bad deal.

That's not enough for Meier. I think he's worth two 1sts. Probably in the last year of his deal he can be traded out for a 1st as a rental.
