I will probably hear that Blues want a pick instead. Pilut is much more valuable than a mid pick. He is going to Europe based on how we handled.

He you guys have him playing in the NHL next year, I dont see him leaving for Europe. I am mad at how poorly he was handled last year.

I'd be surprised if the Devils add a significant contract at RD.

no. a crazy thought, lets not rush prospects to the nhl. Sabres fans every year our like moths to a light. Burn after burn as we rush our prospects. " he is ready." No he is not.

So you think another year of Junior is going to help him even though he was already the best player in his league last year

Reinhart, Grigerenko, nylander (didnt need to come to the US) , all these guys were going to be soooooo good, and were a sure thing. Here is a thought, lets stop being like edmonton.

Reinhart scored 23 goals in his first season and had over 40 points. I think he was ready. Nylander was only given 19 games over 3 seasons including 7 over the first 2 seasons. I think he was given more than enough time to develop he just didn't. Hrigorenko also just didn't develop. We could have given him 10 years before giving him an nhl shot and he would be what he is. Some guys just will never be good no matter the development path.

I'm not at all opposed to Pilut, even if he'd be a bit redundant on our LD depth chart. Sure, we'll do it.

If you think Grigorenko & Nylander would be sooooo good if they had more time in juniors then Idk what to tell ya man. Not all prospects work out. If Cozens is ready, he's ready. You don't need to wait for all prospects to be 25 to let them play.

Grigorenko, He is doing really well in the KHL
Ristolainen. why did play ANY NHL games in in 2013 to 2015?
Pilut, just bombed in the NHL an All Star in AHL
Mittelstadt!! When I saw him the prospect challenge in 2018, I turned to Lance Lysowski and asked him who is invisible? I had to tell him Casey, then he smiled and agree.
Maybe Pysyk (not sure about him) and Myers.
Tampa definitely does it:
Pulat, Johnson and Gourde all spent over 100 games in the AHL
Cirelli 54 and Paquette 75.

First Grigorenko is signed with Columbus for next year. He went back to Junior for half a season after being drafted and was too good for that level. He needed to move up for his development. He never really developed into the player he was thought to be but that is as much on him as it is on the organization. Girgensons is what he has been his whole life. A guy with great physical tools but no elite hockey skills or awareness. An additional year or two in the ahl is not going to make an overdrafted player more skilled. This year he was the player he always should have been its just he was a mid first round pick so he has been cast as a top 6 forward the early part of his career. Pilut spent half of his first year in the ahl and was an all star at that level came up and did very well in half a season in the NHL. Then he sat in the ahl last year behind a bunch of defenseman he was better than and has chosen to leave our organization because we were too patient with him. 9 times out of 10 a player turns into what they would have been no matter what development path a team takes. There are just as many first round busts around the league for other teams. Most players that turn into elite NHL players are that within 2 years of being drafted. Those that take longer to make the league are usually average players at best. I know everyone is scared because of what happened to Casey Middlestadt. Odds are if he plays at Minnesota 2 more years he is still likely the same player he is now we just have not seen him at the nhl level yet and have no clue how he will fare. Cozens is beyond the WHL. He should be insulated in his role at the NHL level and on a third line with sheltered matches and ice time. If he cannot get up to speed quickly then unfortunately he probably will not be the high end player we are all hoping he will be.
