Chicago are looking good against Edmonton

Created by: Richard88

Description
Judging by Game 1 against Edmonton this team has plenty of firepower. If they can sort out their D and/or goaltending they'd be pretty formidable.

In this AGM I've prioritised keeping the top 6 together, as well as upgrading the goaltending. Due to cap constraints it is tough to make big additions on D while keeping the top 6 intact, but by adding two solid goaltenders the team may still see an improvement on the backend overall.

You mean they won’t win simply by having Mc David on the roster. They’ll have to play hockey? Someone should tell the hockey insiders

Chicago are actually a pretty deep at forward and have some high-end scorers. If they can get some decent goaltending they could surprise.

Edmonton are a paper tiger, just gotta keep them off the PP and let your forward depth beat theirs.

Hawks gotta keep the foot on the gas. I probably said it about 100 times watching the game today.

As for next year, I like the roster as constructed. Georgiev would be a great add in net and I honestly think that's a fair deal. Bring Crow back over Khudobin, might be cheaper anyways. Hopefully Seabrook can platoon with Ian Mitchell 50-50 split. I think that's best for both of them at this point.

Yeah maybe bringing back Crawford makes sense, particularly if Georgiev is acquired as a 1B option to gradually take over from him. I figure that Khudobin is the better goalie at this stage though.

Detroit declines. A 29 yr old with a history of head trauma who isn't 100% recovered from his last concussion is not in the plans of a rebuilding team especially with a 3.9M cap hit left for 2 years.

His medical would scare away most teams in the league.

It's tough to say. Crow is older and has a more lengthy injury history, so maybe it makes sense to move on. I just feel like in this scenario, Georgiev is there for insurance and meant to take over at some point anyways. If Crawford isn't great, limit how often he plays and let Georgiev transition into the starting role

Ya it wasn’t the best game for Edmonton. GG Chicago!! Now what we need to do is learn how to cover Chicago’s men, and shoot more. We are coming back on game 2, so you better watch out! Lol

Congrats to hawks played an excellent game. Closed gaps didn’t provide any space that was an impressive game. Hopefully this woke Edmonton up

Hawks played nice game. But one game does not make a series.

I think the game played out exactly as expected.

- Edmonton were lethal on the PP.
- Both teams got suspect goaltending.
- Both teams made defensive mistakes (especially Edmonton in the 1st period).
- Chicago's forward depth won out at 5v5 against Edmonton's.
