Severson is a guy they should keep, especially if trading him means having Subban on the first pair

I don't mind this deal for the Flames, but it opens up expansion draft issues on D.

No it doesn't, Flames likely aren't protecting a 38 year old Gio with 1 year left and little chance he is taken over someone like Kylington or Bennett

What's Gio worth in a trade?

Because Seattle could take him and then flip him if he's the most valuable piece available. I guess it depends what kind of a season has. If he has a 40+ point season logging 23 minutes per game, if they retain 35-50% they could flip him for a sweet price to a contender I would think.

I mean, I'm with you...I don't think they should use a slot on him, but I have my doubts that they'd leave him exposed unless they had something worked out with Seattle before hand.

isles might toss a higher pick and throw you someone else or another person. Definitely think isles and devils make a trade this fall and wood comes to LI. I think they're good trading partners

CAR got a 1st for taking on 1 year of Marleau's contract, I have to believe that taking on Eriksson's to buy him out would atleast cost a 1st as well. Let alone trading 2 young prospects as well.

I don't like the Van or NYI trades for New Jersey. There is a flat cap for two years. Teams are going to have to pay more than what's been set in recent years to dump salary. The Devils shouldn't be sending the Islanders or the Canucks anything more than a 6th or 7th round draft picks, imo.

Ho-Sang doesn't have much trade value unless its to swap RFA rights. He will most likely get a low ball offer sheet and isles have no intention to keep him. I'd say more like Cal and Hickey(1M retained) and a 2nd rounder would be a trade I could see or something along those lines

I am not a very big wood or severson fan either, but these deals just dont help the devils in any way shape for form.
