ROBERTSON IS IN SPECIAL COMPANY

Created by: TML_Tika
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 1, 2020
Published: Aug. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Nick Robertson is in special company and will be the first 18 year old to debut in the Stanley Cup playoffs since Jarome Iginla in 1996 when he steps on to the ice for the Leafs on Sunday in the team's qualifying round series opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The teenager is coming off a stellar season with the Peterborough Petes in the OHL after registering 55 goals and 31 assists in 46 games. The Leafs have hit an absolute home run in drafting Robertson as one of the youngest players drafted in the 2019 draft and he is a pure goal scorer.

Ya because guys like amarov aren’t good enough for the NHL and there were roster spots.

None of these players needed a roster spot in the NHL......everyone of them could have easily signed on with another NHL team.

Why were they signed? If Robertson and amarov are so special why aren’t they in the NHL?

These two players are only like 20 and 19.......It is best for young players to play in the AHL for a while and slow cook before moving up to the NHL.......The AHL is the best development league in the world......The Leafs have figured out now how to develope their young prospects.

But if they’re something special wouldn’t they crack a mediocre lineup?

Good point if you want to rush their development......it is much better to let them establish themselves first in the AHL.

How many guys that play two years after they’re drafted, and then go to the AHL wind up being, “special?” 1%? .1%?

Robertson actually played last year in the OHL after being drafted and put up some incredible goal scoring statistics........Played for the Leafs in the playoffs and was one of youngest players in Leafs history to ever score a playoff goal in the NHL.

This year he made the Leafs out of training camp and was not sent back to his OHL team........He was actually too young to play in the AHL this year but played a few games before returning to the Leafs.

Before you knock him......you should google him and read his amazing story to become a great young hockey player.......His brother plays for the Dallas Stars.

I’ve watched him. Special release? Maybe. Special shot? Possibly. Special player? Nah. If he was special he would have played the whole season. He’s solid. He’s not special.

You would have said the same thing after watching Guy Lafleur's first 3 years in the NHL........You do not put up the type of goal scoring stats he did in the OHL without being a special player.

Did you like the Amirov signing today of the other elite left wing prospect?
