Description
Genius ... I know. This idea comes out of left field, STL does not get a rid of Bozak or Allen. Pietrangelo can sign a 1 yr bridge deal and extend for a 5 year $9.4M AAV (this type of deal is equivalent to a 6 yr $9.17M AAV). Dunn signs a 3 yr $3M AAV. Honestly, DET kinda gets a solid QMJHL prospect and Armstrong could throw in Gunnarsson too if need be. Teams want to help out each other. If I was DET, who should have gotten the 1st overall pick and a team like Edmonton or Chicago gets it, I would help out a team that could potentially destroy them in the future. Allen will help Goalie depth in Minnesota. Now, you may think to yourself how does this help the Blues since they have so many FA next offseason. Well, hoping Faulk gets drafted by Seattle, Blues can sign as followed:

Schenn: 6.5 M 8 YL
Tara: 7.5 M 2 YL
Schwartz: 6.5 M 6 YL --- Schwartz signs a 6 year $6.5M
ROR: 7.5 m 2 YL
Perron: 4 M 1 YL
Thomas: 4 M 4 YL ---- Thomas signs a 4 year deal
Sanford: 3 M 4 YL ----- Sanford signs a 4 year deal
Bozak: 2.5 M 1 YL ------- Bozak re-signs for 1 year
Blais: 1.5 M 1 YL
Barb: 1.75 M 2 YL ---- Barb signs 2 year deal
Kyrou: 1.25 M 2 YL ------ Kyrou signs 2 year deal
Sunny: 2.75 M 2 YL

Piet: 9.4 M 5 YL
Dunn: 3.25 M 2 YL
Para: 5.5 M 1 YL
Scandella: 3.275 M 3 YL
Perunovich: .925M 1 YL
Bort: 1.375M 1 YL

Binn: 6M 5 YL ---- Binner signs a 5 year deal worth 30 mil
*Backup*: 1.5 M 2 YL

Scratches:
Mac: .9 M 1 YL
Mikkola: 787.5K 1 YL
Kostin: 863K 1 YL

Well kudos for putting in all the leg work. Now time to be ridiculed by the community. J/k

1.) I don't see the point in signing kovalchuk if he isn't going to be in the lineup. Not sure why he'd want to come here if he's not in an active lineup and it doesn't make sense for us to give up ice time for someone like kyrou to develop. But I like the idea of a Blues Kovalchuk Jersey so I'm on board. Especially if you can get jagr.

2.) I'd rather still move Allen while he's playing stellar and there's a need for a lot of teams in net. It gives more cushion in case of an offer sheet for Dunn.

yeah, if Blues can convince De La Rose to sign a 700 k deal it would be better. I signed him to show a scratched player at 700K will fit under the cap.

Also, if blues trade Allen, they could keep Sundqvist and put Barbashev on the wing and sign someone like Anderson, Smith, or Domingue for 1.25M or less and still fit under the cap.

I laughed at the fact you signed Thomas and Sanford for the same amount.

Detroit passes not enough to buy out Steen. We’d be looking for a first but would probably settle for a 2nd + good prospect or 2x 2nds.

I can’t see Sanford making more than 2.5.

Detroit is not taking on Steen let alone buying him out for only a 20-30 goal scorer in the Q plus a lowly 5th round pick (at the end of the round too).

Why would Steen even agree to going to Detroit for the purposes of a buyout? He has a full NTC until the deadline.

Why would Detroit "help" you St Louis out by donating it's cap space to ensure the team that wins the draft lottery has more competition rather than use that cap space to improve its own team through accumulation of high draft picks and/or prospects?

ok, so more unconventional solution, don't sign Anderson and just promote Husso which the team only didn't do last year because Husso was coming off of a bad & injured season while Binnington had not been a full time NHL starter for a full season. Neither of those 2 things are true now

Otherwise, cap won't go up so Bozak probably still walks & if you just extend Pietro from the get go then it looks good. well done
