I think you could get a very similar package to what Zucker went for.

    1st
    Calen Addison (RHD)
Alex Galchenyuk (you can argue he's a 2nd liner)

Ducks would nibble at it if Galchenyuk wasn’t a FA. But I see what you mean

Obviously the Blues are up at the cap, but if Petro walks, maybe Sanford and a pick? Or Sanford, Faulk and a 1st for Rakell, Gudbrandson and a lower pick.

Galchenyuk was a cap dump for the Pens. They aren’t getting a 2nd liner + a 1st and a prospect.

your not getting a second line winger (which is what Rakell is) a middle pairing defenseman (or a defenseman who has that potential) and a first for Rakell.

I mean I would Hollowel, Johnsson and a 3rd for him wink

Zucker: 60 games, 20 goals and 21 assists, 41 points
Rakell: 65 games, 15 goals and 27 assists, 42 points

Yeah, no way Rakell is getting the same return

Wait are you wanting all 3 pieces for him or just one of the 3 pieces.

    Athanasiou + Larsson + 3rd round pick

There would need to be a pick coming back if Larsson re-signs but Rackell doesn't.

That would be a reasonable return for a team in a "win now" mode where Larsson is considered the last piece necessary to get us over the top. But we're not in that position. Athanasiou answers no needs (RW or RD) and Larsson is a rental. Rakell for Ethan Bear and a second would be a good idea, except that Edmonton don't have a second until 2022. I would accept Edmonton's 2020 first and Raphael Lavoie for Rakell and our 2020 third.

So why didn't Pittsburgh give that kind of package for Zucker? Addison is an A prospect and the pick was a first-rounder.

    You're in the wrong universe.

That’s a pretty good offer tbh, but all the Avs fan I’ve talked with really don’t want to give up Timmins. I’ve done some AGMs with Domi (scores 70 points with good ice time last year and would of scored 50 points this year while being given way less ice time and being moved around the lineup constantly) or extended Tatar (60-70 point guy) to COL with returns including Timmins and they’ve all said that “no way COL deals Timmins”.

The Oilers wouldn't do Bear for Rackell 1 for 1. He's a young top 4D. You dont trade a 23 year old top 4D for a second line RW with 2 years left. Plus you want a pick? Common man you gotta be realistic with what you're asking for lol.

Don't forget Rackell is also a 2 year rental.

If you guys are rebuilding maybe two 1sts (2020 and 2021) top 3 protected and James Neil for Rakell.

Tatar will be 30 and is going to be in that $5-6M range.
Domi is going to be looking for something even more and doesn’t necessarily fit into what COL wants to do with his absolute insistence to play C. Where at least for me why I like Rackell better is he is 27, has 2 more years at 3.8 and can not only play all the forward spots but play on top 3 lines. CapFriendly is a fun site but the majority of ACGM’s TRY to make fair trades but always short it in favor of their teams (understandable) and definitely get a quantity over quality feel, especially with draft picks where in the NHL a 1st rd pick is so much more valuable than than others.

Zucker is a better all round player. Rakell is a great offensive palyer. Not great on defense. Also its not a great comparable because Galchenyuk was horrible and was basically a cap dump. It was basically a first and defensive prospect for Zucker. That is a fair. Not a second liner along with it

I think you could get a very similar package to what Zucker went for.

    1st
    Calen Addison (RHD)
Alex Galchenyuk (you can argue he's a 2nd liner)

I think that is the kind of return we should target.

    Quoting: Kotkaniemi15

Go and check Galc's numbers, he's not a cap dump. At 26 years old and producing 17-19 goals and 40-50 pts a season, he's a legitimate contributor at the NHL level. Just because he never became a top line player doesn't mean he's a bust.

It's not bad (I wouldn't be upset about it), but I'd want an additional piece. Timmins would be a good add, but that 1st will be late. COL adding Rakell would help to solidify their top 6 and make them a legit contender. Maybe Jost + Timmins + 1st.

Not really. We need a RHD prospect and DeAngelo is going to want a massive contract. I'd pass. Nils Lundeqvist would work from the NYR, but I doubt they'd move him. Moreover, it is not like they need another LWer.
