    Getting rid of Eriksson's contract alleviates a ton of the cap pressure for Petey and Hughes extensions, then the Canucks would have to make some tough choices in 3 years with who to let go so they can sign Laf. Horvat, Miller and Ferland's deals expire that year, so I'd expect Miller and Ferland walk at the least.

    well they have 29 million free next in 21/22 based on this AG. And they can still make other trades.

    Devils accept but a line of Laf-Petterson-Boeser would be sick

    No doubt! Just exploring different ways of moving Eriksson though. If VAN uses Boeser to do it they could actually get a decent return still rather than shipping out more futures with nothing coming back. Plus Miller is dynamite with Petey and Toffoli would be a good 2RW with Horvat.

    I would personally trade Juoveli and virtanen with Eriksson to move him. I don't see Juoveli turning into that good of a player, but he still has potential. I still think Boeser has tons of potenial

    The problem with that is Juolevi has very little value at the moment and Virtanen’s has taken a momentary hit after he’s been benched by Green. I still think both guys have another level to reach. I’m hoping Juolevi has earned the 2LD spot by the start of 2021/22.

    What if you trade one of your goalies (if Markstrom resgins)

    Yeah, using Demko +2nd and 4th is the most common Eriksson trade I’ve done on here, and most of the DET fans seem to like it. I’d be fine with it too if Markstrom re-signs at a reasonable cap hit.

    But I just keep coming back to whether it’s better asset management to use Boeser as the trade bait. As a VAN fan I feel like I’d rather have;
    Toffoli, Demko, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 4th
    Vs
    Boeser, Domingue, 1st

    No, 1-for-1 I’d definitely pick Boeser, but Toffoli is still a good top 6 winger. The extra assets more than make up for the value difference between those two though.

    And VAN is technically still in a rebuild despite trading picks for Miller and Toffoli, so keeping/adding more picks and futures should be a priority. They’re going to have to keep a pipeline of cheap serviceable players coming to supplement the roster after Petey and Hughes get their raises.

    Yea Vancouver is really tight on cap space. If they could figure out their core and then package the players that don't fit or draft picks with their bad contracts then they'll be fine.
