Description
About the Burns thing: allows SJ NOT to have 26,5 mil tied up in 4 d-men for long. Of course, they too could make a deal with Seattle but keeping Burns for one more year (even if it meant not signing Vatanen) could mean not being able to sign Haula...

About the Allen acquisition: he really was GREAT this year, he's be perfect to split starts with Jones. I'd actually buy out Jones after the 20-21 season, resign Allen and either have Melnichuk backup him or sign another backup.

About the Vatanen signing: the perfect top4 d-man in today's NHL, a swiss army knife, would help the Sharks' PK at D (would remove pressure off Vlasic's shoulders).

About the Johnsson acquisition: would also help their offensive depth, he can score 15-20 goals after all. He would help their 2PP unit in a big way.

About the Gagner signing: would be a great 4th liner for them

About the Janmark signing: didn't have a good season, he is a good passer tho, which is why I think he'd fit in well with Haula.

About the Haula signing: would be perfect at 3C for the Sharks. Would also help their 2PP unit, like Johnsson.

Why would Dallas pay for that contract with was too much term?

You gotta retain more if you want a return on him. Maybe if you retain 3M.

Couture's contract won't age well either

No team will ever retain 3M for more than 3 years.

So Dallas gives up a 2nd Round Pick, 3rd Round Pick, Caamano (B-Level Prospect), Honka, AND any additional pieces Seattle would require in order to take Burns all for 1 year of him? That's a ton to give up for 1 year of a player

I like the Burns trade - It's very similar to the type of trade I'd propose lol. The Leafs and Blues trades are good too.

And I quite like Allen and Vatanen, but I can't get over how much they're being paid. I can look past Allen's cap hit a bit because he's gonna become a UFA after next season, but with Vatanen, I think that's too much for us to be paying for how much term he's gonna want (I highly doubt Vatanen only signs for a year).

I like how much depth you've added to C with the addition of Haula (I think he also signs for more than 1 year), but I think our wings are too weak as a whole. I don't think Blichfeld and Janmark are great options personally, and Labanc on the 1st line is scary to say the least.
