It's a tough call, but given the lack of guys ready to move up on the blueline (and given my love of both of those guys wink ) I think I'd rather have Ellis and Arvidsson.

If both teams fail to get past the play in round only then can I see these 2 teams making a massive trade and this is massive

Fine, I'll keep Liljegren run a 21 man roster and OS Cernak 4x4 then

Potentially, but right now the Preds defense has three absolutely fantastic guys, one young prospect still learning the ropes, and then a heap of rejects from the parts bin. We can't really afford to trade any of those blueliners right now.

TBL fan. The contract for Cernack is about right. Why does Tampa make this trade? Cernack has played top 4 minutes for almost 3 years now.

They make the trade because none of the full no move clauses waive - they do manage to move Killorn but even with Serg and Ceirli taking very friendly deals they still don't have the 2.25-3 it'll take to keep Cernak and not lose him for a single 2nd rnd pick

He's also only played 125 games and certainly not all at Top 4 minutes, so 3 years now is simply not true, it's been a season and half played in total

ok typo meant 2 years. He has been paired w Mcdonah the entire time. They are the shut down defenders for Tampa.

TB doesn't miss a beat pairing Liljegren with Mcdonagh - Cernaks success is attributed to the very experienced shutdown defender he's been paired with - I'd also assume getting a NHL ready prospect at under a Million for 2 more years to take Cernaks place is much more appealing than a 2nd rnd pick (Cernak doesn't fetch a worthwhile future package)

No doubt they have cap issues but 2.25 helps TBL. Some how a combination of Gourde, Johnson, Palat, Killorn, McDonah will be moved. It's interesting Cooper has moved both Gourde and Johnson back to center. Centers have more value and both are still good if given top six minutes. Admittedly Gourde has a terrible contract to move. If we play more than 4 playoff games, lol, I predict Johnson will have a huge impact. He does very well during the playoffs.

It's not really a matter of interest from other teams for the NTC players - all 31 other teams would take Sergachev or Ceirli at 5/6x5/6 over any of the players you mentioned - TB needs to move 2 NTC contracts just keep Sergachev and Ceirli and then they still have only 17 players

Not arguing it will be a tough summer for TB. Offer sheets are very rare, then you need to have a player sign it. NHL GMs are an honorable group, guess we will see how much.
