a team can offersheet him at 6 mil, and all it would cost is a 1st and a 3rd. Tampa doesn't have the space to pay him. Since Buffalos pick is 8th, it would probably be enough.

Wings decline, why would they give up an early 3rd for a marginal goalie when they can just sign a cheap UFA for free

Tampa declines. Cirelli isn't taking an OS from Buffalo or anywhere else if we're dealing with reality. Tampa isn't interested in moving young core pieces for 1sts based on their current win now position, and as evidenced by them trading 2 1sts for depth pieces that help cap wise. If Tampa was looking to trade Cirelli, and especially to a division rival, if would take more than a 1st and 3rd. If the trade offer from Buffalo doesn't start with either Cozens or Jokiharju, Brisebois isn't seriously considering it. Realistically and most likely, Cirelli will bridge in the 4 range, and then he'll get paid on a long term deal when the cap is higher and he's earned the big 8 year deal from Tampa.

Beaulieu back? Tanev for FIVE years? This is downright atrocious.

        Way too much for Gaudreau.

And I guess trading away the entire draft, you don't care about building a winning organization? This team cannot afford to trade away an entire draft class, they have no prospects as it is.

Trading Ullmark and keeping Hutton tells me all I need to know.

No thanks, Flames will just keep Gaudreau or trade him for a better return.

Not only is it not enough value in my opinion, but even if it was that's 3 forwards who would need expansion protection coming in with just one going out. Makes no sense for Calgary.

I can't wait to see cirelli be the first player to pay their team to play for them. I mean everyone loves tampa so much. So contract looks something like -1,000,000
Idk that seems to be the only way that works

        Good for you.

You wouldn't get the chance to either, because nobody on the Flames would be dumb enough to offer it.

A response that adds nothing, very shocked considering the source... Maybe one day Buffalo fans will realize on here that if they really want Cirelli, they'll need to offer something that Tampa actually wants for where they are currently positioned. A lottery ticket at #8 is never going to get Cirelli.

considering we had this debate for the past 4 days all I can say is I can't wait to see what happens with this kid cause a top 10 pick in this draft is worth way more than a 1st and 3rd in next year's draft.

In a vacuum, sure it is. For teams that are rebuilding and/or are still a few years away, which Buffalo is, the potential that the pick holds is very valuable. For a team like Tampa who is in the middle of their Cup window, the pick doesn't have that value in exchange for a proven and only getting better commodity. Cirelli is already the 2C on one of the top 5 teams in the league and will be getting a good raise for a short term bridge. He knows the situation regarding the flat cap and Covid, and he is well aware of Tampa's cap situation and how their system works with rfa deals. So sure, he could leave this team for an extra million or two(less bc of taxes) and go to a team that has little chance of winning a championship in the next 3 years, has far worse weather etc., or be could stay in Tampa where he is pretty happy from all reports and still get a raise of around 5x what he is currently making, while betting on himself that in 3 years, it will be even better financially speaking and he may have his name on the Cup by then.
