Description
I believe there is a possibility the bruins do a sign-and-trade with Matt Grzelcyk this offseason. Early projections show that grzelcyk would be the top Bruin exposed in the expansion draft, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the bruins choose to trade grzelcyk this offseason to avoid losing him for nothing.

I just don’t understand this line of thinking. They would have an opportunity to trade grzelcyk after the season but before the draft, right?

The bruins are in win now mode. They aren’t making a decision like that unless they think Lauzon is a better fit. I find that highly unlikely.

There’s also the issue where I think he would be worth more to the bruins than he would in trade.

Lastly, sign and trades are just so rare it’s almost not even worth considering.

It's worth noting the expansion draft implications regarding a Gryz trade as well: unless the receiving team can guarantee a protection spot, they're looking at a major loss of asset (Grzelcyk himself or the picks/prospects to dissuade Seattle from snagging him). At the deal you have him signed for, Boston benefits heavily from burying Moore in Providence and rotating Chara in and out with Lauzon. There's another season to go before we're even considering Seattle, and there's no excuse for Boston to flip a quality LHD prematurely.

I think - should Seattle not interfere - Winnipeg would be a really good landing spot, as he slots in behind Morrissey almost perfectly. First and a prospect, so long as there's a pre-negotiated extension in place?

I second Beter's idea -- Winnipeg seems a natural destination for him. But I think that this off-season is premature.

Or you pay Seattle to not take Grz.

The real factor is krug returning or not. If krug walks grizz probably isn't exposed.

There's an easy way of solving this, just give up a draft pick so seattle takes moore. Done.
