I don’t understand why people don’t feel they need to actually add a good player in these Eichel trades.

Lafreniere, vaselainen and a 1st, possibly shine up the second, but i think sabres take it and run, new era in buffalo with lafreniere advertised as the next one and new management hopefully books a win for 3 years of continued build, with dahlen, lafreniere and cozens

Lafreniere compares to a Huberdeau or Svechnikov. While it would be nice for BUF, they aren't moving a franchise C for that

Eichel is worth more than that, probably less than 20 players in the league worth the 1st OA + more and Eichel is one of them.

You’re prob right. Take out the 2nd at the 1st in 2021 and I think it’s closer. Along with maybe another guy like Gustafsson. Prob moves the needle towards a deal

What if buffalo misses the playoffs again, and eichel asks for a trade pre expansion draft or post, are you getting a better package with there backs against the wall, this would be a preemptive sort of strike and a relatively sell high. This would be opening offer with some more haggling, heinola or samberg and a shining up of 2 possibly to 1. Would have to included and or upgraded from original offer.

Or... they could say suck it up, you have 5 more years on your contract. 50M on the table. You can choose to sit out and miss that or play for Buf. If someone is willing to overpay, like really overpay, we’ll move you. Until then, pay or don’t get paid.

And then an all ready toxic image of a non playoff team gets dramatically worse, sometimes cutting ties hurts to start with, but some new youthful energy, brings a renaissance and turns out better for both. Obviously you don’t take first offer or attempt to keep him out of east, so if it goes bad, he’s not in your building rubbing it in for the next decade.

He can’t sit out with a contract. He does, he gets sued for breach of contract and loses more money than the deal is worth. It only gets worse for him if he tries to play hard ball.

So Eichel asks for a trade, do you think BUF loses leverage? He’s signed for 6 more years. After what Sakic did with Duchene any GM worth his salt isn’t going to be pressured into taking an offer that is substandard. How is BUF back against the wall, is Eichel just going to sit out, and this offer is definitely not selling high, they don’t even get anything resembling a top 6 C back. Imo this is an easy no thanks from BUF.

Gm and coach on such a short leash, decision going to end up in pegulas hands, and pay 60 million, or add some elcs and move the money to dahlin. I know it’s not ideal, but just an opinion of the future. Hopefully pegulas figure it out or sell. Not advisable to compare joe Sakic and Kevyn Adams in anything.

It’s weird how that didn’t happen with Col and duchene and TBL and Drouin. Sorry Buffalo isn’t trading him for trading him sake. Laf is a fine piece, a good one in fact. Buf would be so devoid of Centers it wouldn’t be funny. In an Eichel trade a young 2C with upside is a must. A good And logical Eichel trade looks like: hischier, Nolan Foote, ty Smith, 7OA, and a 2nd.

It’s not ideal and it’s not how you fix anything either. Buf would be just as bad if not worse for the next decade with the trade proposed

I’m sorry but you’re wrong. There isn’t a team in the NHL that wouldn’t trade the 1st OA for Eichel. Lafrienere is great but he isn’t an elite 1C Eichel is, AND under team control for 6 more years.

People r underestimating Laffy, he’s gonna be better then Eichel and is 5 years younger.

Horrible trade for Buffalo. Why is everyone’s fix for Buffalo to trade the superstar away and not build around him? Which, by the way, should be easy. It’s not hard to build a playoff team.

Based off what? Eichel as a 1C on an awful team has increased his scoring output every year to now where he was on pace for 94pts. Not only that C is so much more important than winger that in all honesty when making a list of the best players in the world how many C get named before a winger gets named, 6 7? On top of that outside of McDavid going into their draft year Eichel would have been the top pick in any of the last 10 drafts. I’m not even a Sabre’s fan but it is easy to recognize how good Eichel is even on an awful team where every opposing team is doing whatever they can stop him and not caring about what other players are doing.

No he won’t. Eichel is top 10 in the NHL. Probably better actually. He’s also a center and has a bigger impact on the game.

What? That’s literally what I just argued. There is no way I would trade Eichel for this years 1OA.
