Laf is obviously amazing but I've been pushing the "NYR should trade 1OA" narrative for months now... NYR need a top six center badly.

The argument in favour of Trading the 1st overall pick is the same argument against trading up to get him. Lafreniere is going to be incredible, but when weighed against what would likely be asked in return for the 1st OA pick, I don't think he stacks up. Some variation of 3+5 for 1 has been proposed a thousand times on here, and there's just no way in my mind that Laf would be more valuable long term than potentially having Byfield + Raymond, or Stutzle + Drysdale.

Personally - and this will probably prove why I shouldn't be a GM - as a Rangers fan, I would trade 1OA to OTT for the 3OA, NYI 1st round pick, and a B+ prospect (Logan Brown or Drake Batherson). Would you make that trade as an OTT fan?
