Big Offseason moves

Created by: TheDime99
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 31, 2020
Published: Aug. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rangers lose the play in and win the lottery. They have to choose between keeping all three of their LW forcing one of them to play on the third line or trading Kreider or Lafrenière. The obvious choice is to trade him. The Rangers sign Hoffman as a stop gap to give Lafrenière time and not force him to be a top line player out of the gate and he will be on a much shorter contract than Kreider

I dont understand why so often we see teams go out and sign the "big ticket UFA" only to see this site get flooded with AGMs trading that same player after one season.
You went out and signed the "big fish" now do something with him.

So close, but no this ain't it. Missing a piece in all of these deals. Rangers would turn these down.

I’m sorry, we take the DAL and run. Harley is arguably better than K. Miller

Highly doubt they’d get a better offer on Geo than 32OV.

Detroit would 100% push for one of their later 2nds. 32nd overall would be an excellent return for Giorgiev.

Idk if they'd get a better offer. What we do know is that the Rangers won't accept anything less than a better offer. They're probably going to keep him.

If it's Harley + 1st for Kreider then yeah I accept. But Honka's not going to be retained. So not giving up a 3rd for that.

The amount on the Hoffman deal is because he is only going to be signed for three years.

I wouldn’t do 32OV just found it strange that people were asking for something better.

So your saying is Georgiev will remain a Ranger for the foreseeable future.

I'd say the most probable outcome is Georgiev is a Ranger for 2 more seasons and then traded. ~26 years old seems like the time when most goalies like him are traded (Schneider, Grubbauer, Andersen)

I think you are right. Personally I wouldn't trade him before the TDL. Shesterkin just doesn't have enough games under his belt to feel comfortable with him as a starter and a backup that will mostly likely retire at the end of the season.

Pretty hard to move someone that has a NMC and has been the face of the franchise for so long.

agreed. it's why they've been working him towards waiving his NMC for months behind the scenes...
