BTW i dont think that trade makes sense for NSH.
1) it puts them too close over the cap with no room to fill their roster
2) Forsberg is their best offensive piece
3) creates a big hole on RD for NSH

And the best part? when Fabbro hits RFA, Dubas probably massively overpays him too lol

It’s getting to the point where i don’t think marner is a desirable trade target. He’s just paid too much, UFA after expiration etc. It would be one thing if covid hadn’t happened, and the cap was expected to go up and up and up, but I think we’ll probably be at a flat cap for three seasons.

I don’t want Marner and his contract on my team.

yeah the leafs are fu*ked. no other way to put it. yes marner is an unreal player but there’s a handful of cons that come along with him. dubas made this bed for himself and now he has to lay in it. simple as that.

I think the Nsh team is bad for both teams. I got to believe if Marner is traded a #1 D is coming back, or #2+ a prospect or solid 3rd liner at a discount.
Don't worry. Watch Toronto lose, get 1st overall, draft Laffy and then trade Nylander for a #2 Dman.

I think you could make an argument to the contrary. The Sabres stink. They’ll get good draft picks. They can improve. Toronto seems to kind of be stuck in purgatory.

the sabres have been getting "good draft picks" since 2012. theyve had a top 10 pick since 2013, our star player doesnt hate playing here, its not even close. although they ve had 1st exitsa in the last 3 years to the presidents trophy winner after coming last the year before to 6 games and the 2nd seed in the east to 7, theyve made the playoffs. buffalo hasnt improved in 7 years

Okay but do you not understand what I’m saying? Buffalo is in a position where they can bottom out, make huge changes to the core, and potentially rebuild to a point where they can contend for a cup. Toronto is supposed to be the contender now and they’re just built in a really flawed manner. I would rather be bottoming out than be stuck in the middle.

How about you stop spamming your thread and just let people post what they want? I don’t think this is a bad leafs take. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it doesn’t belong on the ACGM part of the site.

i do but its been the same thing for buffalo for the last 8 years so until they do it theres no way leafs are in a worse spot, theyve been bottoming out and nhave nothing to show for it. keep in mind 88 34 and 16 havent touched their prime yet, if they were in their late 20s then sure but theyre all 24 and underalso young late picks like robertson and sandin,

Eh. Those guys are probably all in their prime. Early 20s seems to be the prime for forward stars.

Anyhow, no, it isn’t the same thing for buffalo. You missed the point entirely, but I’ve explained it about as simply as I can so enjoy the game today!

ok so no improvement at all? makes sense, marchand entered his prime in his 8th year, couturier another one who got into his prime late,, marner was better than marcahnd was at his age and so is matthews, not that close either tbh and they were better prospects as well, even bergeron didnt hit his true prime where he was dominant for 8 years as well, pretty ignorant comment

It’s pretty easy to cherry pick and find guys that go against the norm. The norm for high end forwards is that their prime starts in their early 20s.

I didn’t say that there was no room for improvement. I said those guys are probably in their prime. And you’re going to use the word ignorant? Give your head a shake pal.
