MTL keeps clogging up the neutral zone in their boring version of hockey. I'm not complaining they got to do what they got to do in an attempt to win. They keep trying to catch the penguins off guard and break out of it.
But the penguins adjusted last game. You could see the defense staying back more. They need to keep that adjustment. MTL didn't respond well to it. It wasn't till the 3rd period where they took more risks that the game heated up.
MTL has a really hard time getting the puck out their end once the penguins get it there. Eventually peppering Price with shots is going to lead to goals. Close to 40 shots a game simply isn't sustainable long term. Not with so much offensive talent. You can't play rope a dope against that.

Eventually MTL will have to wake up and change their style of play if they want to win this. Their coaching doesn't think they can fly up and down the ice with them. But that's the game they are going to have to play instead of the defensive one. Having possession for only 40% of a game doesn't lead to winning. Even though they did do better in 5v5 last game.

I will say one thing for the penguins. If they can't improve their power play they are in trouble.
You have to make them pay for the penalties and liberties.
If teams think there is no cost to it, they will get worse.
If you can't score goals you have to make sure you make their other guys take a beating on blocked shots.
Put some bruises out there.
