This is a VERY lateral move. Murray isn't an improvement worth Bean from Reimer. As long as we have Reimer, we have a stable goalie. You really wanna run with the lottery of Mrazek and Murray?

It's not for Bean, Caniac, it's a flyer for Ned and a 3rd. Part of the asset cost is lowered from accepting the Bjugstad cap dump.

That doesn't make it better. You're taking on a cap dump in a lateral move? I don't understand the thinking

The thinking on my end is that Murray just turned 26. That's incredibly young for a goalie, and he does have the talent and ability to play like he has in the recent past. It's yet another shot at a potential true #1 starter for the next several years. I think that it's worth the risk.

Im not against this if the contract is onlyfor 4 years. Shorter would be better, but anything longer than 4 wouldnt do

Murray, Bjugstad for Dzingel 50%, Nedeljkovic, 3rd

Pens pass.

Dzingel is only okay when he is force fed prime ice time, that's not happening in Pittsburgh. He is basically Simon at multiple times the cap.

Nedeljkovic isn't even NHL backup quality.

Replace the 3rd with a 1st and maybe there is a conversation. Otherwise it is simply a quick, "No"

It already happened above hahahaha. And remember, there's a cap dump in this deal, as well, mainly because accepting cap dumps to lower asset cost is quintessential Carolina.

I also don't think that Yojimbo gets that Dzingel's cap hit is only $3.3M AAV. Getting him at 50% retained for a $4M cap dump is going to lower the asset cost of Murray by quite a bit, especially since Pittsburgh is a team that needs all of the space that they can possibly get.

Dzingel isn't a cap dump because he's 50% retained! It's a net cap savings of $5M+ when you consider that Murray made $3.75M last year!

Hes a cap dump for pittsburgh. He would do nothing unless he was with crosby or malkin, which wouldn't happen

Yeah. He hasn't shown much in the minors. He isnt the callup guy either. This year they rotated with two others. But okay, he might be NHL backup level. So are 20 other $700K guys that the Pens could sign. Still zero value. haha.

I do understand. You dont understand that Bjugstad isnt really a cap dump. If healthy he is a great 3C. If not healthy he is on Season starting LTIR and completely meaningless cap wise.

So Bjugstad is moot.

A $1.7M 4th liner, a #5G, and a 3rd is not getting Murray.

This is great for the canes......now what reason did you give the penguins to want to do that. Because I don't see any here.

it's not the contract cost that makes someone a cap dump.
