2020 draft:
The jets move down in the draft and pick up a 2nd in the process. The canes move up to draft a dynamic offensive player with a higher pick while the jets move done where the centres are likely to be. There they should be able to choose 2/3 of zary, bourque, and lappiere. The jets choose lappiere imo.
Just for the sake of argument, I’m going to say that barron is still available at the beginning of the 2nd round. Does Detroit do this? They can either take one slightly better player or 2 slightly worse players a little later to add more prospect depth. The 3rd rounder is to balance values out
So the jets take Hendrix Lappiere with 19 OA, Justin Barron with 32, and William Villeneuve/Antonio stranges/Ian Moore at 65.
Now for the roster moves:
A lot of people look at Edmundson’s advanced stats and think he’s not good. But imo, he is the perfect partner for pionk or pionk can move up with morrissey and he can play on a shutdown pairing with demelo. He would really help the jets d and woudl add a physical element the top 4 lacks. Heinola and poolman should be good together on the 3rd pairing and niku will be a solid 7th d until he refines his d-zone coverage.
I think perreault is a good 3rd/4th line winger, but as long as he is in WPG, harkins won’t get his shot. Therefore, it’s time to move on. Little comes back at rw with the shutdown pair of copp and Lowry, while the 2015 line gets reunited and Roslovic finally gets some centre time as he has proven he is ready.
The jets bring in haula who is a low end 2c, but 2c nonetheless. He should hold down the 2c spot until Lappiere is ready in 1-2 years.
In goal, I decided to make move rather than resign brossiot. I know brossiot and hellebuyck work well together but hellebuyck and dubnyk train together in the summers so that would be a good fit too. Trading for a pricy dubnyk, makes it easier to move perreault as well. Stanley goes over as compensation for retained salary and the 5th comes back to balance things out.
Expansion Draft:
7F: Scheifele, Wheeler, Laine, Connor, Ehlers, haula, Roslovic.
3D: Morrissey, Pionk, Demelo
1G: Hellebuyck
Notable exposed: copp, harkins, appleton, edmundson, Niku berdin.
The jets move their first and niku for a 2nd so they select appleton.
What do you think? Enough for the UFAs? Good trade values? Any holes?
Why do Carolina move up? Our prospect pool is already full of great skaters, and Askarov isn't gonna be there at 12. We have Bokk, Suzuki, Rees, Puistola, Slepts and just a load of great explosive forwards already. They're not trading up to take someone like Lucas Raymond.
The Detroit trade entirely depends on who is on the board. As 20-50 is loaded with the kind of talent Detroit need this could happen. I could also see someone falling into our lap at 32 á la Veleno

I agree it depends on who's there at 32 but I wouldn't make the trade unless you takeout the 2020 3rd round pick (SJS).
Not sure how good Stanley is, but that Minnesota trade looks bad for Winnipeg. Dubnyk was awful this past year and wasn't great the year before either, so unless he bounces back massively, they're basically paying Stanley to get ~$2m in cap space next year. Minnesota probably jumps at that, they don't have any notable LHD prospects right now and could use someone.

There is quite the difference between jack quinn (who could be an elite player) and say Jan Mysak and mavrick bourque. Quinn would instantly be your best prospect and there is a good chance askarov will still be on the board. The only reason I’m trading away from there is because there aren’t many centers ranked in that range.

Again, Carolina don't need the specs. Carolina are great at finding good value picks in the draft. Moving up makes no sense unless Askarov is 100% there, and he won't fall past Chicago
