What the heck is that Sens trade? Gaborik is being paid by insurance and the Sens have plenty of cap space... why would they trade a top prospect for a cap dump. scream

If you want him it'll cost a 1st. We'll take Russell's cap hit for free as a bonus.

I didnt know he was still considered a top prospect, i thought he was bordering on failed prospect

Yup, but hopefully we can resign. Looks great though. 3 lines that can score.

I don't see how the MTL deal goes through without a guarantee that Danault resigns -- 3 years of Klefbom is more valuable than potentially 1 year of Danault. Although I do think that Lehkonen to EDM could be a really good option as he is kind of the jack-of-all-trades winger that can move up and down the line-up. A bit like Jarnkrok in that sense. That could be a really good pickup for EDM.

He's no more of a bust than Puljujarvi. He was putting up over a PPG at age 21 in the AHL.

Even if you take Brown out of the deal that trade still makes no sense for the Sens.

You're right in thinking Brown is far too steep of a price to pay, but Russell does cost Melnyk less cash dollars than the insurance premium left on Gaborik's contract. If Dorion is over-ridden on that trade, the best Ottawa comes out with is a mid-to-late pick in 2022, as the swap does both teams more favours than not.

He's really still on pace for a quality NHL career. He had a 28-point pace as a first year center on the second-worst team in the NHL. I find pause in his AHL stats: Brown's a player, but might be traded in a much more even-value deal if Ottawa ends up with Byfield (an indisputable upgrade) at #3.

Brown is only 22 and his ahl work has been great but hasnt been able to stick it in the nhl. Moving him could happen but not just giving him away for a pretty average defender. It's worth just holding him for that return

Habs are not interrested in moving Danault nor Lekhy,
Danault is too important to our team.

We will give Romanov a go before pursuing another LHD.
