I’d be open to that Ho Sang trade. Two failing prospects being swapped is good

I really don't see how the canes don't at least think about it. Marner would be your top point producer, also you get Holl and Engvall who are both solid NHLers

Pesce is your 3rd best defensman and turbo is 3rd best forward.

you wouldn't trade your third best defenseman and 3rd best forward for a top 10 winger in the league? If everyone was fairly paid its a steal for Carolina. since Pesce and Turbo are underpaid and Marner is overpaid I think it's fair or pretty close to it

I don't see CAR trading their two best value contracts for an overpaid winger. Our front office is very value based and Marner doesn't fit the bill. Engvall and Holl are replacement level player that do not move the needle in this case.

I know we can't know everything about other teams players but you'll just have to trust me when I say Holl is not a replacement level player.

He can handle top 4 minutes and is currently playing on our top D pairing.

I only included him so that the Canes could get a value contract back otherwise I'd be happy to keep him.

Teuvo Teravainen is a point per game player. Just because we have two absolute monsters in Svechnikov and Aho doesn't diminish the talent of Teravainen. Pesce is a top 10RD in the NHL. just because we have Slavin and Dougie doesn't diminish his talent either. Marner is HORRIBLY overpaid. He's worth at most 8.5. Would he be our top point producer? Aho literally has 5 points in 2 games where Toronto has a whole have 0 in their game. Svechnikov had a hat trick in his last game. And because Marner is a playmaker, he wouldn't get the goal support. Marner is like Teuvo in so many ways. Both are pass first guys, but marner is better, I'm not disputing that. But Teravainen plays a better defensive game. He's the "stay at home" guy from the SAT line. Teuvo and Sebastian are also childhood friends. We're not gonna piss off our star center. As for Pesce, Carolina have only Pesce as a RD under contract past next season. Nylander for Pesce would be the 1 for 1 ask. The fact you want both Pesce and Teuvo for Marner is why Carolina laugh you away. "hOlL aNd JoHnSsOn" Yeah, Carolina get 2 pieces of junk you've signed to deals you already regret. It's a no brainer rejection for the Canes.

He's playing on your top pair, and you have an issue in your top 4RD. Spot the problem here buddy.

Replacement level was a bit harsh.. maybe. He is more like a dime a dozen. There are a lot of Holl level players available, RE: our depth defenders. I wouldn't mind Holl as our RD3 but he is not anywhere near the value Pesce brings.

*Holl and Engvall. Also 2m for a middling to low end 2nd pair guy is not an overpay. I like Pesce a lot but canes fans overvalue him, hes a high end 2nd pair guy, he'd be far and away the leafs best RHD especailly without Holl but that's not saying much

"Aho literally has 5 points in 2 games where Toronto has a whole have 0 in their game" such a dumb arguement better base an entire player on a 2 game sample for one guy and a 1 game sample for the other.

"Teuvo and Sebastian are also childhood friends. We're not gonna piss off our star center" Marner and Matthews are best friends, wouldn't want to piss off our star center.

Also Marner is great on the pk and is a solid defensive winger.

If you replaced Turbo with Necas would you do it?

Holl level players aren't very rare but 2M for a second pairing D man is good value.

Still no. There's no way Carolina take on Marner. Aho and Teuvo have been friends since they were back in Finland. That's more than some publicity stunt for Toronto media. There's images of Teuvo and Sebastian ripping teams apart when they were like 10.

Holl is a replacement level player. 2mil is about right

" I like Pesce a lot but canes fans overvalue him, hes a high end 2nd pair guy" No. This is where I'm done, you think Pesce is a 2nd pairing guy, which means you know NOTHING about him

That opens up a whole other can of worms as Necas is Expansion Draft exempt and has the ability to move to center. From this CAR fan the answer is still no. It is not as much about the players involved as it is the contract structure and line-up structure and the reality that our front office would simply not take on Marner's contract.

I really like the Ho Sang and Bracco deal. Two players who the organization has lost faith in, both in need of a fresh start and new organization. Both have tremendous upside but haven't reached it

Sure thing. It really bothers me that a lot of posters on this site are so negative and don't explain their side of a trade proposal in a constructive manner. With all the typical baiting, trolling, "team x laughs in team y's face, and slams the phone down and blocks their number for eternity" and other argument inducing posts, this site can become unbearable. We need more people who are capable of articulating their thoughts and who are open to other's points of view.

Toronto's not moving Marner, not when his value is very low.

I've love Pesce but Carolina is looking for players Toronto either doesn't have or can't part with.

I don't think Marner's value is going up. His value has been down since Dubas gave him that albatross contract.

And again after flat cap.

If he plays like the guy that got paid that much in the first place, his value will go up.
