It favours CAL alot now. Bennett is nowhere near Kappy and Nylander is younger and just as good offensively as Lindholm.

i think Lindholm is better than Nylander and Cheaper so Cal gives up the best player but get the 2nd and 3rd player in the deal.

I would agree with this assessment. I think this deal is better than the initial one. However, if CGY plans on putting Lindholm at C, then I don't see them trading him at all. They need a top 6 C badly, and if Lindholm can fill that gap then they won't trade him for a winger.

I think this depends, Bennett had a horrible regular season but is once again having quite a relevant post season

It's a tempting offer, but Flames decline. Lindholm brings a lot more to the table as a complete player than Willy, cheaper also, with the option as a centre. Kapanen is a very good cherry on top but I personally would decline. Maybe if a 2nd round pick was attached, even then I just don't think the flames can forgoe a value two-way centre, especially when Monahan could be on the chopping block.

I think it's a close and fair offer though.

i think they trade JG for a young C and sign Hall. maybe JG for Frost and other assets

cant argue with that. Lindholm is a great player then you factor in his contract. he would be really hard to let go

I am not going to rank the players. There is zero chance the Leafs are trading Nylander and Kapanen unless the return is RHD. None, nadda, zilch.

Hilarious take. They get an upgrade on both players and Kap vs Bennet is even further from fair than Nylander is to Linholm.

Yeah, just disagree. I'd rather Nylander over Lindholm.

Of course You would but Lindholm is the better player. Again not by a large margin but he’s better and cheaper.

I would because I believe Nylander is the better player - both very good, but I personally would prefer Willy. You're stating that Lindholm is the better player as if it's a fact. What are you basing that on?

All around play. His value in general. Skill and cap hit I would take him over Nylander every time. Skill is very very close but then you factor in cap and it’s not even close

Sorry, but the majority of that is just words. I'm not even necessarily saying you're wrong, but there is no real substance to anything you said other than their cap hits (which is irrelevant in determining who is 'better' in any comparison). Like it's a fact that Lindholm is better because 'all around play' and 'skill'? Ok, I guess...

I'd prefer Willy over him because Nylander is a far superior transition player. He produces at a higher rate 5v5 rate. He produces at a higher rate in general - even if you just go by the past 3 year sample rather than career as to eliminate anything too far back to matter Lindholm barely gets the edge even though those 3 years include his career best year and Nylander's career worst. He has better underlying numbers (shots, IPP, xG, shot assists, etc). Has better relative possession numbers. Lindolm has also ridden a very high shooting % over the last couple of years (well above his career average) suggesting a likely regression whereas Nylander's over the last couple of years has been bang on his average over that span...

Lindholm is a better defensive player, (though this past year he wasn't much more than average in that regard), I just don't think that that quite makes up for everything else. It certainly makes it close, but I still take Nylander.

Words are important in an online conversation. Imo Lindholm is a better 2 way player. He is a better defender than nylander and they have similar offensive abilities. “All around” Lindholm is slightly better. Lindholm is effective as a center. Again imo. Corsi is misleading. It’s useful but I always take it with a gain of salt

Of course they are, but so is substance. Yes, Lindholm is the better defensive player, but really aside from 18-19, he's been pretty average that way. I take the guy who outstrips the other in basically every offensive/possession category rather than the moderate increase in defensive ability, that's just me though - It's certainly not a fact that one is better than the other.

Also, I didn't really mention Corsi... That would fall under the umbrella of 'possession numbers', but so do a lot of things.
