That’s a no from Columbus. We don’t need or want Lehkonen.

Actual facepalm when I saw that Laine trade.

Come on dude...a C stuck in 4th line, a D clocking the lowest minutes of your team and a 2nd for an elite scorer?

That doesn’t even begin to approach fair value for Laine. Actually the value is a lot closer to the joke realm then the fair realm.

@justaBoss
understand your point but can't agree with it
Domi is definitely a top six player despite his current role by the Habs and if you compare his stats with those of Laine for 2018/19 + 2019/20 than they look nearly equal
Mete can be an 18 mins TOI D-man for Jets defence weakened by the leave of Byfuglien, Myers and Chiarot earlier ... he could replace Kulikov and pair with DeMelo if Heinola is not ready yet

@DirtyDangle
Mete should be traded because there is no long term place for him in their second D-pairing ... better trade him than let him suffer in the bottom pairing role he wasn't born for

@Devil1122
That Laine trade isn't like a joke, it depends on the Jets if they're willing to swap their rebel scoring brilliant for a top six role forward and an young puck-moving defenseman with top 4 potential

Statistically Laine's worst season of 30 goals and 50 points are still better than most of Domi's. He has two seasons over 50 points and 0 seasons above 30 goals. Also Laine is only 22 and Domi's 25. Laine is already better and the gap is likely just going to get bigger as Laine reaches his prime. That season was an outlier for him in a bad way, much like the Domi's 70 point season was an outlier he's not likely going to reach again...at least in Montreal.

The role he'd play in Jets doesn't mean the Jets should consider paying him anymore than he's currently worth. I've said this in some other post, but the max I'd offer for Domi if I were WPG is Perreault+Stanley+1st.

If a trade involving both Laine and Domi should happen, it should have assets like Caufield+the 9th overall pick going WPGs way. Otherwise they easily decline this line of inquiry. They've literally no reason to move Laine whatsoever.
