Isn’t connor Murphy kinda good? I kinda doubt a sub half point per game player, a nothing prospect, and a third gets him with salary retained for two years. That seems like you’re a liljigren short at least.

Hollowell is actually a solid prospect. Excellent puck mover and great on the PP. A solid mid-6 winger, good prospect and a 3rd is pretty fair imo

I almost want this to happen so we can watch Toronto's cap situation unfold in 2023 when Lafreniere needs an extension.

You're both out to lunch on this - Murphy is ok - he's no game breaker - Kapenen for Murphy 1 for 1 has been exhaustingly discussed as fair value - the prospect and the third is the retention cost

Well, you’re off on what retention costs. A 3rd and a dude that played in the coast this year is nothing.

Ya, i heard that NHL teams with weak blue lines often stash their top d prospects in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers.

The Hawks dont get better by making their weaknesses worse. Go look at the TOR posts...hes their #1RD. CHI posts have KK as their #3RW.

Honestly don't think it would be that bad. Cap should be starting to get back on an upwards trend by then and the addition of Laf would make a guy like Marner or Nylander more expendable and with only a short amount of term left in their deals at that time it shouldn't be to hard to trade them.

Still doesn't change the fact Murphy is a 2nd pair Defense man on his good days and third pair on his bad days

Sorta like last year when all the haters said " no way you can keep all 3, it's not even possible" and yet here we are with all 3 signed long-term

Not to mention it would be the end of Buttman as the board of gov's from all the other teams call for his resignation.

...and they still wouldn't have a defense that will get them deep into the playoffs.

Why? If the Leafs get 1st OA it would be the third time they picked 1st over the course of the 80's, 90's, 2000's and 10's that's 3 times over 40 years - you'll be upset probably whine a bunch but nothing will happen to Bettman

3 times over 40 years and still rebuilding since 1967...eh? Guess the organization sucks even more than I thought.
