I do wonder if there's a part of Adam Fox that wished that he could've been mentored by Slavin/Hamilton/Pesce his first season. Regardless, no issues with what happened as an end result, as Skjei fits very well with us, as it turns out. That top-6 defense with Fox still would've been pretty slick.

I know that, but I just wonder if Fox is thinking to himself right now that he shouldn't have dismissed Carolina so quickly as a place for him to be at long-term.

He was traded WITH Hamilton. The deal was Hamilton, Fox, and Ferland for Lindholm and Hanifin. Canes couldn't agree to terms with Fox because he really wanted to be a Ranger, so NYR acquired him for 2 second round picks. One of those picks was dealt for two picks in a trade-down, which Carolina used to acquire Jamieson Rees and Anttoni Honka. The 2nd pick that they got will be for this coming draft.

I get that, like I feel if he had interest in signing in Calgary a different piece would have been sent to Carolina. Seeing how he is now a future top 4 of him, Valimaki, Hanifin, Andersson would be sick.
