He doesn't get nearly enough credit for how good he's been over his career. With a couple of exceptions like his last year in Florida, he's pretty much always been an average to above average goalie and he's done it playing for **** teams almost exclusively. He was on the Sharks for their cup run a while back, but he basically never played, and the Canes team is the first time he's gotten to play for a good team.

It's hilarious, because he actually stood on his head that series, but people still try to put the loss on him. His numbers were all above average during that series, all while having some combination of Dion, Gunnarson, Gardiner, Franson, Fraser, Kostka, O'Byrne and Liles in front of him.

O'Byrne and Gardiner were the only two defencemen that didn't start over 57.1% of their shifts in the defensive zone. THAT'S INSANE! Phaneuf started 60.9% of his shifts in his own end! For a series that went 7 games, it shouldn't have even been close!

Wow, that's a lot of names that I haven't heard in a long time. A couple of AAAA guys in there, as well (Fraser and Kostka). It must feel like another universe when compared to serving as the goalie behind Hamilton, Pesce, Slavin, Skjei, Gardiner, Vatanen, and Fleury hahaha! Even analytical whipping boy Edmundson was a stud this series!
