Would this work Rangers fans

Description
For VAN this scenario obviously assumes Markstrom wants more than the Canucks are willing to pay.

Would the Rangers be able to afford two years of Eriksson? I know they'll need to give raises to Buchnevich, Shesterkin, Chytil and maybe a couple others in a year, but their bigger raises won't happen until the year after with Zib, Fox, Kakko and maybe Kravtsov. Just curious if something like this is possible, even if the trade value needs tweaking.

NYR likely does not want to take on Eriksson's high cap hit for another two more years. But good news! You can still sign Henrik this coming offseason if and when NYR buy him out. I think VAN is one of the likely destinations for Henrik if that happens.

If it's Baertschi instead of Eriksson then it's more intriguing. But I do not see any team willing to trade for Henrik when NYR has little leverage with the current carousel between Henrik, Igor and Georgiev.

I've done other ACGM's with Lundy traded for Sutter, which could work for both teams. I was just curious if it would be possible to make it Eriksson instead.

I just do not understand why you'd want to trade for Henrik when retaining the player you are trying to dump + the AAV of signing Henrik after a NYR buyout will likely come out to less than or equal to trading Henrik with the current $8.5 million cap hit and signing someone else to replace whoever you sent over in the trade. In other words, I think they are better off not trading for Henrik and simply waiting to sign him when he becomes a free agent.

For VAN the goal is to get rid of the second year of Eriksson's contract. That's when their cap crunch really happens.

Short of adding Pettersson or Hughes to the deal, the Rangers would give you the exact same response. They're not taking your garbage without a massive incentive, and clearing a single year of Lundqvist's cap hit isn't that incentive, especially with Georgiev unlikely to stick with the team long term. Lockwood and a 2nd are peanuts when you're talking about trading Eriksson

Just swap Eriksson with Sutter and it makes sense.

In the scenario where Markstrom doesn't resign, you're probably going to want a 1 year stop gap for Demko.

Lundy as the stopgap was the idea. I was just curious a) if it was possible to swap in Eriksson for Sutter, and if so then b) what the cost would be for that.

Right. I think VAN will have to buy him out after next season unfortunately.

a) Yes.
b) What we're you thinking? Same as the deal proposed just with that swap, more/less?

How about Roussel instead of Loui and Rangers can retain some on Henrik?
