Major Off Season Shakeup

Created by: Campabee
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 4, 2020
Published: Aug. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not sold on Drouin on the 1st line

Adding the Nylander brothers gives us a bit of size and ample scoring.

Moving Petry and adding Miller solidifies our RHD for 5-10 years.

Adding Skjei Solidifies the LHD position and adding R. Suzuki eases the loss of Poehling.

Moving Petry and Tatar and not resigning Kovy, Weal or Thompson next season means we potentially save 5ish Mil for other UFA's and RFA's next season.

Sabres trade is fair, although it could make more sense if it was Montour for Domi considering they are both RFA’s.

Actually was guessing on the value of Miller. I have not seen enough of him to accurately gauge his worth.

Domi is worth more than Mantour and Miller combined.

Yeah no. Carolina gave up a 1st for Skjei. Plus, Montreal want Ryan Suzuki to play with Nick. Carolina don't want Tatar. This would be roughly what you'd see, even if your bias makes them think the value is off.

That said, Carolina would have seen the way Tatar flopped in Vegas and won't touch that with a pole. He works in a specific system.

Sabres easily decline. Domi is way down the list as far as Centers we would target this off-season. If we strike out on the higher end targets and the price is right perhaps we go after Domi. If it costs us major asset(s) for this player then we remain patient for internal development. Or we acquire a similar player elsewhere while surrendering a reasonable return.

big pass from the Canes. Now if you wanted to talk about one of the other RWs for one of our LHDs, we could talk.

The only RW's that would be available you probably wouldn't be interested in for Skjei or Bean and those are the only 2 LHD that you would consider moving that 1. Montreal would be interested in and 2. Would be interested in Montreal (ie Gardiner is not waiving for Montreal).

To clarify that above statement Montreal will not move Gallagher and I am very confident Canes would not be interested in Armia or Lehkonen for either Bean or Skjei right

We have a Lehkonen in Foegele. Without an extension I would do Armia for Fleury. With an extension, I would consider a deal for Bean.

Good base for sabres trade I would switch a 2020 2nd instead of the 4th and I think that would be good.

Domi is weird cause he was spectacular last season and very subpar this season.
Partly due to line mates for sure. But hard to sell the domi of last year with the performance this year.
