Vrana mcmichael+

seems steep. Vrana alone is really good. 60 point fast winger. mcmcichael is a top 20 prospect. if thats the case i wouldnt be interested at all. great player great cap hit but trading those two plus would be a massive hit for washington.

Even if FLA's owners want to cut costs I don't see how either of Barkov or Huberdeau would possibly be available. They both have great contracts for what they provide. Maybe when each of them reach the final year of their deals it's possible the team might look to move them for assets instead of giving them massive raises.

huberdeau is a 90 point player on a great contract, so not so steep.

I dont see Florida trading Huberdeau unless its a gross overpay. Him, Barkov, and Ekblad are their core guys

not diminishing what Huberdeau brings to the table just saying that feel steep. doesnt mean that it is steep but that my opinion. Huberdeau is really good.

Great contract, top 10 LW in the league (arguably top 5), in his prime. Really not worth pursuing IMO the cost will be far too high. Think of it lile trying to get Gaudreau last year after his 99 point season.

From an outside perspective I agree with you. I could see McMichael, Protas, Kempny and 2 firsts though

If this is the price absolutely no way in hell should Caps pay it. Vrana is arguably almost as good as Huberdau then adding McMichael, who has 1C potential? I have no doubt FLA will ask for it but no way Caps should.

Vrana is not almost as good as Huberdeau, so your argument falls apart there. Prospects and prospects, some pan out, others don't its a gamble. Huberdeau is a 90 point player on a great contract.

lets say Vrana Ceiling is 70-75 points which isnt unthinkable. thats 15-20 points less so the difference between 20 points is top 20 prospect and multiple 1st round picks? Prospect dont always work out...obviously but sometime prospects work out amazing.... lets look at both sides of the coin

this is also cap friendly so everyone either glorifies a player (Huberdeau is great and he is being valued correctly as a top 10 winger) or diminishes a player ( Vrana who is really good imo better than players like Nylander and Lindholm). people also like to say prospects dont always work out..... but in the same breathe will tell you Cozen will be a 2c. Mcmichael is = if not better than Cozen. Actually!! Protas isnt far behind Cozen. (buffalo fan in the tag)

1.) hes only 3 years younger than huberdeau, so lets not say his ceiling is 23 points higher than any season hes ever had. hes already 24 years old. "only 15-20 points" the other way is trading a 37 point player for vrana.

2.) I never said anything about multiple first round picks

dylan cozens was rated the best drafted prospect in the world by the athletic. we suck, so trading our best prospect is dumb, you have a veteran laden team shooting for cups, so trading prospects isn't important. if huberdeau was available to buffalo i would be shocked if cozens wasnt demanded.

yeah last year he score 47 points this yeah he was on pace for 60 points. difference between Huberdeau at Vranas age is 8 points (average he had 26 in 31) that average could have went up pr down. like i said it not UNREALISTIC to think he could get 75 points espically with him getting more powerplay time. Huberdeau last had 49 5v5 points Vrana had 40. Huberdeau averages 1.5 minute/game more pp time.

Athletic also said Capitals had the 2nd worst prospect pool beginning of last year.... mid year they realized who Mcmichael Alexeyev Fehv and Protas were. im not saying they are wrong but they arent accurate all the time. id say Cozen at best mid season ranking with #8? Again regardless at what stage you are you dont trade a potential elite center and a young top 6 winger plus picks for 1 player.

The only reason Vrana isn't a 90 point player is because he plays less than 15 minutes a night and gets little PP time.

Vrana 2019-2020 stats
5v5 TOI/GP: 12:19
5v5 points: 38
5v5 points per 60: 2.68
PP TOI/GP: 1:55
PP points per 60: 5.41

Huberdau 2019-2020 stats
5v5 TOI/GP: 14:06
5v5 points: 41
5v5 points per 60: 2.53
PP TOI/GP: 3:34
PP points per 60: 7.05

So give Vrana the same minutes as Huberdau and give him 1PP time with top players, he's hitting close to 90 points. Not saying he definitely is better than Hub, but he's really freakn close so throwing in McMichael and possibly more is a huge over pay.

I completely agree and thank you for those stats. People on this site immediately diminish players they don’t know yet.

I love these arguments. who is to say he can handle more minutes? what is his quality of competition? huberdeau gets brutal matchups playing as he does.

"we have this guy who is likely a 90 point player if we play him a FEW minutes more a night, but nah, lets play him less."
