I love these arguments. who is to say he can handle more minutes? what is his quality of competition? huberdeau gets brutal matchups playing as he does.

"we have this guy who is likely a 90 point player if we play him a FEW minutes more a night, but nah, lets play him less."

He just showed you stats that would support his argument and you came in here with nothing.lol how do you know Vrana doesn't get the tough match ups? looking at the stats Hubber gets about 40% of his points on the pp. 58% he starts in the offensive zone? wouldnt "brutal match up" involve more D zone start or are you you just saying his strength of competition is better? i mean its not like hes playing with scrubs he has Barkov as a center. how do you know that he isnt producing like that bc of strength of his teammate? not saying he is but i mean why not look or question everything since you seem to be up for that.

its important to understand that no one said hes a 90 point playeror better than hubber but given the stats he could be. i think with more ice time and pp time he would easily be a 75point player.

hes on the 2nd line behind OVECHKIN. lmfao. yeah lets tell the guy who is the best player in franchise history and the winner of last 3 rocket trophies that even though hes playing at an Elite level we are going to play a youngster over him. Ovechkin is a top 3 LW in the NHL. idk if you were honestly asking or if you thought it was a snarky comment but it was a fairly obvious answer. 24 1 cup and rapidly improving every year looks like a kid trending up. smile

i never said play him over ovechkin, but he is 7th in forwards in time on ice and barely edges out kovalchuk and hagelin. did it occur to you that you could increase his ice time without decreasing ovechkin. what a marvelous concept!

1pp time for Kovy and god knows why he plays that hes awful and Hag is #1 pk guy. im dont control the Washington bench. idk if you were aware. playing him more would make sense.... i think that was the point that was made earlier.... washington takes the 5th most penalties in the NHL that might be a big factor in his ice time being down

I completely agree and thank you for those stats. People on this site immediately diminish players they don’t know yet.

He has to be one of the most underrated players in the league. He's so freakn good.

Well according to this Vrana played against higher percentage time vs elite players than Huberdau. O and Vrana gets less offensive zone starts. The only thing better is Vrana has slightly better linemates.

Again, is Vrana as good as Hub? Probably. But if he isn't he's incredibly close, and throwing in McMichael plus more would be a huge overkill by the Caps.
