Description
I feel this is pretty realistic for the Rangers. I am aware of Evolving Wild's contract projections and respect them, but the Strome prediction is insane. He will get a million dollar pay raise and a couple years. Could see it going to arbitration. An salary increase to $4.5m for Tony is very significant and fair, given his offensive talents are balanced by significant defensive shortcomings. I think Barron makes this team. He plays the style that Quinn likes and is a better player than Howden in my opinion. If Miller cant beat out Staal for a spot, we have a problem. I traded Georgiev to the Wild because they are desperate for goaltending, I thought a mid-2nd was fair value. Unfortunately I let Fast go, but I wouldnt be opposed to moving Lemieux so we could keep Fast. I did not buy out Staal or Hank, I do not want to carry dead weight contracts. Overall, I think Gorton has a really tough off-season ahead of him. Hes got to be practical and keep Strome and TDA's salaries down.

The Wild aren’t desperate for goaltending. They have Kahkonen ready in the AHL and 2019 2nd round pick Hunter Jones too. The Wild are very high on both.

I mean....Stalock and Dubnyk are 2 of the worst goaltenders in the league (Dubnyk is the worst), giving 30-40 starts to either of them is going to really hinder your playoff chances. And I don't think you want Kahkonen getting 40-50 starts as a rookie. The Wild have a goaltending issue at present, not necessarily in the future.

I don't want to curse it for you, but given how much I feel Henrik deserves a cup I would be utterly fine with seeing a certain french canadian on that roster after the draft.

All of what you said is true. I think Wild will look for someone who doesn't cost them a 2nd, however. Georgiev didn't start at all in the play in round, which wouldn't mean much except Shesterkin was out the first two games. I think that may hurt his value a 2nd could be tough to come by.

don't think it really makes a difference honestly... also we're not talking about a 2nd here for Georgiev. Realistically it'd be at least a late 1st. Frankly I don't think Georgiev makes sense, he's not a stop gap. You need a stop gap. Lundqvist makes more sense. Wouldn't cost much.

Agreed a cheap Lundquist is Ideal. Not sure what that deal looks like I doubt Rangers retain 3.5 million for a year but if they could work out a deal then I think it would be a good fit.

Yeah I think something around like a retained Lundqvist for someone like Hartman or Foligno (whoever you like less) makes sense.

As a Wild fan I don't mind the Wild trade at a first glance. But then I think about it and with Jones, Robson, KK as goalie prospects in the system already; the expansion draft where both KK and Georgiev would need protection; and not knowing what Georgiev's contract is going to be I begin to really not like the deal.

Hank at half price would be something to consider for MN, but they would have to have given up all hope on Dub and find somewhere to ship him. I really don't know how much of an upgrade Hank is over Dub at this point. I haven't watched a lot of NYR games the last couple years, but the ones I did see Lundqvist wasn't very good.
