I'm not sure why you posted this. You posted the Fiala/Boeser trade idea in the TM earlier. You specifically asked if it was possible if could happen or not. Pretty much every response you got was that neither team would do it.
So why post it again here?
But just for the sake of argument. Let's go ahead and break this down. Bit by bit.
1) Why would Vancouver not do this trade.
They can't afford to, they don't have the cap necessary to take on Fiala. Fiala's going to need a new contract within the next year, and it will not be cheap. He's likely going to cost anywhere between $5.8M-$8M.
That's more than Boeser, even on the low end. If, and I stress that IF Boeser can stay healthy his next contract probably tops out at $6.5M, if not, he stays at about where he is.
This makes sense as Fiala has likely the potential to be the better player.
2) IF Vancouver had the cap necessary, they make this trade in a heartbeat I think. Although I feel like the pick is going the wrong way.
3) Why the Wild wouldn't do this trade.
As already stated above, we have no desires to move our best player for Boeser. It defeats our entire purpose in trying to acquire him in the first place.
Let's look at what this team needs in order for it to reach contender status.
3A) Competent 1a/1b goaltending or an elite 1G
3B) A legitimate 1C or top 6 center who can handle 1C duties.
3C) Overhaul our top six to have 3-4 high-end finishers.
3D) At least one of these high-end players needs to be a RHS.
Fiala is high-end player number 1 and the face of our franchise. Kaprizov is high-end player number 2 and gives us a dual threat. To this effect, the Wild would be looking to add Boeser as high-end threat number 3 on top of the other two and to get that RHS finisher all in one.
Boldy or Beckman look to be our internal options for threat number 4. Or number 3 sans Boeser.
I have no doubt the Wild and Guerin may very well may make a play for Boeser, but it won't involve Fiala.
