Nope, Mittelstadt might, but I don't think the hawks have room for more reclamation projects. Take all that out and just do Strome for McCabe straight up.

Maybe you could use that for another AGM. I’m not, though

He isn’t exactly a 3c he’s a 4th liner 1st line AHL guy.

If Strome's ok with a 5 year $4M per. Hawks sign that. I agree that the Hawks have too many reclamation projects. If the Hawks needed to add a prospect...fine, but its the 1st rounder they should be going for. Too many high quantity low quality trades for Strome.

Add a 2nd, either way McCabe is a player that should be on the hawks radar if they're moving Strome, criminally underrated. His advanced stats might not be great, but Buffalo is terrible. McCabe would thrive in a better situation.

There’s ZERO chance Buffalo would trade the 8th pick for Strome though

If u want a 1st for him,
maybe a team like Colorado who’s picking later in the round would consider it

Unless we are trading Maatta or De Hann for McCabe I wouldn’t touch it. No way would he be in a Strome trade.

Maatta is probably heading to a team looking for a vet D man like NJ.

I'm not saying BUF should do it. I'm not saying they shouldn't. It really depends on what that "extra" prospect is. If you're looking for a 2C and 3C...Evan Barret would be a huge addition. If youre looking for Defense...Carlson/DeHaan/ maybe even Vlasic...IDK, but as a Hawks fan I'm very against most of these parts/pieces trades for a quality centerman.

I wonder if the Sabres are even looking for a big time 2C anyways
I think they see Cozens slotting in there
So we may just go with a lesser “placeholder” type

But we have a brand new GM with no front office experience,
so who knows what he’s thinking???

Hawks don't want or need McCabe. Obviously one of Maatta or De Haan is gone in the offseason and the reason being, is we have a very solid player in Carlsson on a ELC...there is absolutely zero reason to be paying more then a ELC for a 3rd line LHD as Carlsson is a very solid player. If we went after McCabe, then he'd have to play 2nd line behind Keith which means both De Haan and Maatta are gone which is highly unlikely. Furthermore, we have Beaudin who is another year away, then you have Vlasic who's 2 maybe 3 years away. Hawks just have too much of a logjam and that is only considering the left side...right side is even worse with Murphy, BoQ, Mitchell, Seabrook and Regula.

The ONLY defensive player the hawks should consider targeting is a number one left hand D guy and moving Keith down to the 2nd line...that's it.

I don't see the same upside in Carlsson, if he was that good, he'd be playing over Koekkoek or Maatta, but he isn't. Carlsson, Boqvist, and Mitchell is 3 ELC's on the back end. I don't think it's fair to expect all 3 to be in the everyday line up. Carlsson has potential, but I don't think he's there yet.

Have you watched him in Rockford besides the times he was called up? He's definitely ready for 3rd line duties IMO, but the Hawks aren't going to bench $4M players in Maatta or De Haan unless Carlsson is a clear cut obvious upgrade; that's a tall order for any ELC. Koekko plays the offside, Carlsson does not so unrelated.
