Manson to Vancouver - VAN side of HadesofSoCal trade

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2020-21 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 5, 2020
Published: Aug. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I like the idea of adding Manson and this trade does open up a bit of cap space, but I don't think they should do this deal.

Losing Pearson weakens the top six for the year and there's not enough cap space to replace him with a top six forward (I've plugged in Leivo on a one year deal to fill in). Plus they've given up their first and are still stuck with Eriksson's contract.

It's close, but I'm not sure it helps them enough either this year or for the future.

Is that the cost of acquiring Manson?? Yikes!!

I agree with you. Stand pat and wait for the cavalry (Hog, Pod etc) Moving Pearson doesn’t sit well with me lol.

I’ve also seen recently on here that apparently Hughes can/has said he could play either side??? Let’s hope Rathbone and Juolevi develop into what we hope they can, and move Hughes to the right side. Rath Hughes. OJ Raff or something like that. Then pick up some depth down the line.

That’s a very soft 4some needing size & meanness added in the top 4. OJ & Rafferty are likely solid bottom 6 material once they get experience.

I go crazy on trade ideas pretty often & change my mind a lot. My focus is usually on creating cap space. Roster wise is a top pairing RHD for Hughes assuming Tanev is gone. I can accept Tanev if he signs a team friendly contract say 2or3/4m. If not then explore an OS for Cernak is next up. Edmundson also as a UFA has me curious. Pietrangelo ideally but needs a few trades to open up cap money. That means picks/prospects out to move a few contracts. The 1yr vet contracts are ok to keep so it leaves Loui & Beagle & maybe Roussel. Hoping Sven wants to terminate to pursue a fresh start for his last chance of sticking in the NHL. Stecher I can see gone since he’ll cost too much & isn’t big enough given his offence isn’t good. Montour is a trade idea. I’ve other ideas I don’t remember with so many ideas I’ve thought on.

I'm not sure that Hughes has ever said he'd be comfortable playing the right side, but I've made a few ACGM's based on that premise so that VAN can try to acquire a high quality LHD for him to play with. I just think his rover style and the fact that he seems comfortable everywhere on the ice makes it a possibility that he could play his off-side.
Skytown liked this.
