Tierney Is a really good third Center who wins face offs, but he isn’t a #2 center. Buffalo is not paying that high of a price to upgrade it’s third line. Take Mitts and this year’s 2nd out, and make it this year’s 4th rounder, that is trade they take.

Agree he is a third centre but so was pageau and he was in the middle of a career year. He's older and had an expiring contract so while I think the isles overpaid a 4th rounder is a joke

Tierney isn't the a top level player but i do think Mitts has brought his value down quite a bit. From being a 8th overall pick 3 years ago and not establishing himself it's kind of Logan Brown like where they aren't worth as much as some would hope

I agree that mitts doesn't hold that much value. But that's why it makes no sense to trade him. Just hope he finds his form instead of selling extremely low

So Batherson and 2 seconds are worth Marner? If TO gets 1st overall why would they trade Laff and Marner? Why not keep both, or trade Marner for defence.

I agree but at the same time you don't want another Jesse puljujarvi if your Buffalo you might take what you can get now. Add in that eichel wants to win now and you won't win now with 2 rookie centres in the top 9 next year if your buffalo in Cozens and Mittlestadt IMO

Mittelstadt isn’t a rookie. I think Cozens thrives as 3rd line center next season if he’s ready to go. Buffalo getting a veteran stop gap for line 2 wouldn’t be too expensive. Teams are looking to off load salary for very little return. Unless they covet a particular player and will overpay for him (like they did for Kane and would’ve done to get O’Reilly at the time) they’re in the drivers seat.

I'm just saying there is no reason to trade mitts just to trade him. I think pushing him to the wing is what he needs

I'm not saying Batherson and 2 second are worth Marner. #3 overall + #5 overall is worth way more than #1 overall. This gets the leafs two ELC studs, Drysdale who I think is the next Makar, and Byfield who will be a very good center in this league, and who could potentially take Tavares' place when the time is right, but can start on the wing like Mackinnon did
