I don’t think he’d take the job, he probably gets a HC job somewhere IMO

I mean ya never know. Ruff accepted an assistant job in NYR in 2017. He probably could've gotten a job somewhere else. It happens sometimes

Anaheim has their own cap issues to deal with, Unless they can move Getzlaf. There's noway they can afford Trouba.

It's not that, I like him (a lot), it's just that our rebuild isn't done yet. We're not ready to compete yet so why go all in in the next 2 years. What we need to do next year is increase Chytil's, Kakko's, Gauthier's, Lemieux's, LIndgren's, Fox and ADA's ice time, while giving the net to our 2 headed monster in goal and all that while giving decent rookie like ice time to Kravstov and Miller. Our defensive structure also needs fixing. badly.

Competing for a deep playoff run should start in 2021-22 for us. Competing for the SC starts the year after.

Next year (20-21) is still a learning year for a good chunk of the team

Untrue. Kesler can be placed on LTIR.

They've $4 million to spend that already takes into account Kesler being on LTIR.

No, it doesn't. He's being carried on the IR in the CapFriendly projection for 2020-2021, which counts against the cap.

No interest in Strome from Winnipeg unless he's coming much cheaper than this offer. We'll just keep Niku rather than take a low pick for him.

Sure, Runs a very strict dump/chase system which tends to really hurt his team's offensive output. His isolated coaching metrics are above (the top part is offense, you want that to be positive, the bottom is defense you want that to be negative). So overall, his net effect as a coach is a negative impact on his team.

In terms of defensive assistant coaches. Ryan Warsofsky (Carolina's AHL head coach, whose brother was coached by Quinn at BU) is a great option. John Davidson has an extensive relationship with Brad Shaw who runs the D in Columbus (and coached under JD in STL as well). JD also has a strong relationship with Todd Richards who runs the Defense in Tampa, he was hired to be the CBJ head coach by JD.
