I don't see anyway NSH trades Johansen to a divisional rival unless it's a major overpay. This is a cap dump, an OK defenseman that can't stick it in WPG even though they need D, a bottom 6 nhl/ahl tweener, and a 1st in 2021. NSH is also retaining $1.5m. This offer just isn't really close at all and NSH would just keep him. He's one of the only players that is actually stepping up during these qualifiers. I'll give him a pass on this season as basically every player on NSH had a down year.

Wouldn't NSH want to do a change up on the roster if they lose to ARI??

I could see them considering that, but as it stands, this trade is just bad value. It doesn't really address any of their issues other than giving them a bottom pairing denseman. And I don't see NSH being excited at the prospect of trading Johansen for a bottom pairing defenseman and retaining $1.5m in the process.

Caggs will cost more then moving down from a 3rd rounder to a 4th rounder. Caggs is worth a 4th rounder maybe 3rd on his own.

I would think that swapping a 4th for a 3rd is better than 4th...

Caggs is worth a 4th or maybe a 3rd on his own without any swapping.

Thats what I mean...I could do Caggs for a 4th...but I would think that a 3rd has more value than 2 4ths...

No thanks from Winnipeg. Johansen isn't worth giving up a first for unless more salary is retained and even then the Jets would probably pass due to his age and that he appears to be slidiing downhill badly and is still under contract for 5 more years.

For the Caggiula trade, no thanks, the Jets have plenty of 4th line/press box guys.

The difference between a 3rd round pick and 4th round pick is nominal when you look at the success rate of players making the NHL drafted between the two rounds. It's incredibly close. So Chicago moving Caggs to move up 26 spots from 4th round to 3rd round is not enough. If Caggs is worth a 4th round on his own, the offer would be Caggs and a 5th rounder for a 3rd rounder back.

Caggs is a 4th liner press box guy? LMAO...apparently you don't watch him at all. Drake plays up and down the lineup, currently on the 3rd line in the playoffs. He had injuries which is why he hasn't played the last 2 years a full season not because he's a pressbox guy.

Cool. I would hang onto him then. Guys like him are easy to find as a UFA.
