i was borrowing it from a previous post but both players have a value of about a 3rd. Leafs save cap and fill an area of need. i think you are being dramatic... no need to overreact. lol

I know you were borrowing but Jensen had terrible year so his value is not a 3rd, but like 4th.. Johnssons value is 2nd round pick. Id do 3rd + Jensen for Johnsson.

how do you feel about the trades?

If McM is ready, fine. If not... no. That Kahun contract won't happen though.

Would you trade Lars Eller for Justin Holl?

I mean, you don't really need Lars Eller, you need decent, affordable guys on the back end.

If I had an abundance of centers, and the deal would help fill a hole and save some money to put somewhere else, sure. Not sure how else you figure you can fill that hole?

The Sabres would definitely benefit from adding a player like Eller would be a very good 3C / LW option. At the expense of Kahun the cost is too high. Kahun provides more value to the organization then Eller does.

so a winger that provides 40-45 points adds more value than a massive 2c upgrade that also scores 45 points and can play shutdown role? fair point i strongly disagree. when i made this trade i wasnt happy giving up Eller bc he adds 40 points and is a match up nightmare vs other teams....

Yeah I’m sure Ellers 40 point will magically make the Sabres a playoff contender. Buffalo isn’t trading Kahun when they have too many RHD on the team.

I realize that you dont understand what winning is... but it is not all about point production.

Kahun who’s 25 and was on pace for 45 points. He only played 5 games in Buffalo.

They have defensive centers that they can resign like Johan Larsson they won’t be trading Kahun this offseason.

Internally. I dont think Leafs are just gonna add some random #5 guy from a team and suddenly be happy with their D core. I'd rather just play guys who are already there.. If Leafs are adding a RHD, its gonna be a guy who can play top pairing minutes and proved to play top pairing minutes.

Eller would be a massive upgrade at 2c for Buffalo. kahun is great but Eller helps Buffalo more today and fills the need that the franchise has. why would Washington add? 4-5 RHD > bottom 6 winger. even if thats equal value take into consideration AJ is coming off a serious injury and has a higher cap hit

Ellen isn’t a #2 center in Seattle, nevermind anywhere else. Not moving Kahun for an older player with less upside.

who replaces Ceci and Barrie? going to play more LHD guys on the RHS? makes sense..... ugh i picked the two worst fans bases to make a trade with. both team glorify players like wTF is paying a 2nd for AJ? i dont see it. maybe if he was completely healthy. if this was the 2019 offseason i would agree more

Ceci is literally replacable by Liljegren or Sandin or Lehtonen or whoever shows a little bit of ability to skate, move puck and defend on higher than AHL level and Barrie is easily replaced by Lehtonen. Barrie was bad this year so the bar is not set that high.. Ceci is literally replacable by random AHLer.

Then I guess you can be happy that you didn't make a mistake by trading Eller and we will be happy keeping Kahun. Eller has never scored 40 points in his career. He was on pace this year in his 11th season. To expect him to have career best numbers year over year at 31 years old on a much less offensive team is foolish. I would expect him to be a responsible 3C for 30 - 35 points in Buffalo. Not a bad player but not an upgrade over Kahun. Kahun is a quality two way player who is a natural center. If his production picks up 20 - 25 % as did Ellers in his late 20's he will be a 50 + point player.

I mean, if you can figure out a way to do it, have at er. Like I said, I don’t think this is sexy by any means, but it’s a cheaper upgrade on Ceci, and gives you some flexibility without moving Marner or Nylander.

Liljegren isnt ready yet or wouldnt be an upgrade over Jensen just creating the same issue. Lehtonen might be able to do this but i think you need to replace 2RHD and Lehtonen is a good or could be good but no reason to risk a season but not properly preparing.

doesn't make sense to go for Eller team needs to stay younger. And Eller is a type of player we could find in ufa no need to waste assets.

maybe vets would add leadership and accountability. they have added upgrades and still have the same results maybe the issue is leadership or some sort of intangibles

So the Caps trade away three of their top 5 PKing forwards and replace them with two wingers who don't PK and a guy who hasn't played an NHL game yet? Bold strategy Cotton.
