Lundquist being on LTIR seems pretty vital, but he doesn't seem all that injured?

Retirement.

No cap recapture with his contract.

Gotcha, is that likely? He's leaving $5.5 million dollars and a shot at the cup on the table.

If, as a Rangers fan, you are willing to receive that little for DeAngelo, it seems ok
Dallas might not be the team for the trade, they have stacked D

I had it at a 2nd rounder instead, but thought that would be too much.

Canucks would likely have to add a pick.

You bury Smith, you don’t buy him out... it’s a $400,000 difference why have a cap issue the following season?

Canucks would accept even with a mid round pick

Yeah that probably needs a pick coming back to NY as well. Oh capfriendly, it’s easier to add a pick after instead of everyone saying “No”. Now I know the trades are close, Rangers add a few more picks. Overall the bottom 6 is drastically improved. They can put up more points, are harder to play against, and they added some picks.

Bottom-6 centers are not a thing we need (or bottom-6 players of any kind, really), so we're better off keeping Anderson.
