zadorov now in the east so kk requested trade to the west.

it's just a change of scenery for both guys. montreal picks up another 1st in the process.

Is this because of some stupid trades from Habs fans on here. I hope so

he had a terrible case of the sophomore slumps in the regular season but his playoffs have been ok so far. hopefully he gets another round.

Doesn't get you KK. His ceiling is way too high to get a late 1st who may never be anything and Jost who might cap out as a third liner.

the way i see it

jost:
better defensively
more consistent
more durable with better injury history

kotkaniemi:
a little younger with better potential
cheaper for another year

offensively they are equals
kotkaniemi: 115 gp /42 pts - .365 ppg
jost: 208 gp / 72 pts - .346 ppg

i don't see why he would be worth more. moving up 30 spots in a strong draft is a pretty big incentive. trying to move up 30 spots would normally cost you a lot, at least 2 additional 2nd's.

Jost is 22 and still putting up **** and playing bottom 6. KK starts are based off an 18 and 19 year old seasons lol. Clearly you dont understand how high end prospects develop or dont. Jost has almost no chance of becoming a legit impact player. KK still has a very high ceiling. His PPG is only going up.

i mean do high end prospects get assigned to the ahl in the 2nd pro year and only score at an 18 point pace. kk isn't all that different than jost. he's more highs and lows but as i showed in their career ppg they are nearly identical. jost consistency and defensive play make him the better player now but i do agree that kk has more potential. if he has another bad year tho the avs wouldn't even need to add picks for the swap it would be a 1-for-1. it's a bit of a gamble.

So you would be ok with trading Byram and a 2nd to Carolina for Bean and a 1st then?

depends on how their next few seasons go. if byram's not working out and bean's putting up similar numbers than i would at least consider it. especially if the avs get to move up aprox. 30 spots in a strong draft too.

Problem is it's not in a few seasons. This situation would be next year as Byram would turn 20.

You just don't give up on a top 5 pick before their ELC is even up. If that was the case what could you have gotten for MacKinnon after his Sophomore season or Landeskog even? Both of them had a good rookie season and slumped the 2nd year.

We believe in KK's potential and don't believe in Jost's given he's 2 years older and hasn't shown any upward momentum over 3 seasons in the league. KK on the other hand had a better season at 18 than Jost did at 22.

You may value KK differently but MTL isn't interested in giving up on his potential and therefore wouldn't accept this offer.

it would be a few seasons tho as we get to judge what jost has done in 3 nhl seasons and kk in 2 nhl seasons. byram and bean have no nhl seasons so it would have to be in at least 2 years time.

kk has had the better season of both players but has also had a much worse season too. like i said before jost is a more consistent, more durable, better two-way player but kk has more potential than jost.

i'm fine with waiting a year but if kk doesn't improve than a 1-for-1 is fair. unless jost breaks out than montreal has to add.

But that was pretty much my point. There are far too many unknowns with KK now for MTL to entertain trading him in a change-of-scenery type trade.

If he doesn't improve then that's a different situation with more clarity and less chance of backfiring. As things stand for this off-season though KK should stay exactly where he is and MTL should be patient with him.

fair enough. it can wait a season. to be honest i was really hesitant to give up a 2020 1st and the wait could work out in the avs favor.

There’s no way MTL ever does this whatsoever. I know some stupid Habs fans post Girard trade, but most Habs fans knows he is untouchable.

not even if kotkaniemi has another bad season? i know he was drafted 3rd but that only carries value for so long. so far is development has mirrored jost's with the exception he's played 1 less season.

even through their first 115 games. kk 42 points, jost 38 points.
