Description
Couple of Notes:
-Staal and Hajek rotate; this give Staal his "farewell tour" while also keeping him accountable for his playu/gets Hajek minutes. Either way, that third pair is EXTREMELY SHELTERED.
-Some maybe me nervous about K'Andre but with a good camp and need for a quality partner for Trouba, I think looking internally makes the most sense rather then looking for some UFA hack who likely will be as bad as B. Smith or signing someone to a big contract who will block prospects like Miller.
-Rykov in the KHL and M. Robertson in the WHL
-Kravtsov/Gauthier is really a tossup but either way the loser is the 1st F call up and Bealieu/MacDermid the 1st call up on D...
-Re-sign Stromer as a 1 yr place holder. It's probably the best option (won't yield much on the trade market and no chance we lock him up long term).
-Not sure what to do with Howden. Any suggestions are welcome...

So the Kings trade their 2RW and their only physical defenseman in return for an awful cap dump in Smith, all to move up 4 or 5 picks in the draft?

Oh, but it's ok because they get an extra 7th round pick and a undrafted ECHL prospect that has no shot of ever making the NHL.

You don't even use either of the players you traded for in your lineup?

Not sure why Frk is in there. He shouldn’t be, I’ll fix that...

MacDermid is pretty trash and so is Smith true. Smith also brings the same physicality (MacDermid hat 95 hits; Smith 90)

So I’d say the added cap to a team looking to hit the cap floor for having virtually the same player is worth potentially a pretty decent move up into the 1st round depending on where how the Canes/Leafs conditions work out...

IMO Gauthier beats Kravtsov easily. Kravtsov needs at least another full year in the AHL.

MacDermid is most certainly not "pretty trash". Not to mention that he's the only defenseman on the Kings that will satisfy the expansion draft exposure requirements. If the Kings trade him, they'll have to expose one of Walker or Roy, which they're not willing to do.

You want to dump Smith on the Kings, fine. Remove Frk, MacDermid, and the 2nd from this trade. The Kings will send back a 7th.

    Oh boy.

    1) MacDermid isn't trash. The Kings play him exactly how he should be played and he does his job very well. He excels in a 6-7D role playing 40+ games a year for 3.5mil less than Smith.
    2) LA isn't in trouble of hitting the cap floor. At all. They're already at $60.7M without signing any of their UFAs/RFAs, which is 500k over the floor.

Not sure why you think anyone will take that garbage contract for anything less than a 1st round pick. The Kings certainly don't want it, but will take it if it nets them an extra first.

Think it is more likely that a buy out for Henrik occurs. He is 38, but still has something left in him for a cup. And there are playoff contending teams with potential vacancies where he can play a substantial amount of games this coming offseason.

I think this is most likely what NYR's roster will look like as a result: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1808739

I know you do not love the Strome contract but unless they find a bona fide 2C as an alternative, I predict Gorton keeps him.

The sh*t that comes out of some of these other fan bases to get rid of a cap dump is wild.... the most it will take to move smith is a 2nd
