Major overhaul

Created by: MisstheWhalers
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 5, 2020
Published: Aug. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Major changes, took the Isles trade idea from one similar on here, credit to whoever came up with it, don't think either team would actually do it but it's pretty close to fair for both teams really.
Yes Jets fans I'd bring back Peluso and Dano!.. Lol
Anderson takes a one year prove it deal to boost his numbers, he probably moves on in free agency and is replaced internally, the 5th from the Jackets is to make up for the difference in RFA years, maybe the local kid does well with them.
Tampa takes the pick and a RHD prospect for Cernak.
Highly doubt the Avs would trade Zadorov in division but ya never know, I'd add a B-prospect if that's what it took for them to move Zadorov to the Jets.
Sign Haula to be the 2C, he's not a high end 2C but there's no other options, 99% sure that Little is done unfortunately which is why he's on LTIR, absolutely have to draft the best centre available with their 1st round pick.
Problems I see here is this team still has no center depth, really would like to upgrade on Copp but idk who's available at a cap hit that'd fit, the Jets currently need a better 3C as much as they need a 2C imo.
Also can Pulock quarterback a powerplay? Cause if he can't that's another problem, they really missed Buff on the point all season for multiple reasons but especially on the powerplay, Pionk was okay but not great at it.
Laine and Beauvilliers raises would come from Perreault and Lowry's money coming off the books, Anderson likely walks and is replaced internally, not sure about Copp but I think he's traded to Seattle or something to not touch anyone else, that's what I'd do anyway, hopefully Gustafsson could be the 3C in
21-22 if Copp became a Seattle Krackhead or whatever they're called.. 😃

Anyway CapFriendly critics have at it, all opinions welcome but let's keep it constructive, thanks!

Still need a 2C
That 3rd pairing isn’t solid IMO
Dano Peluso aren’t NHLers
Trades looks ok

I actually like this quite a bit. I would be a little skeptical about the CBJ trade but I think Anderson can be A LOT better then he showed this year. Yeah we are small but there are a lot better options then Peluso and Dano tears of joy

You did a very good job of changing the Jets from a bubble team to a lottery team.

I dont see avs for draft picks to jets but I can see them trying to get copp for him or lesser return Lowry

There's no 2C's available.
It's doing fine right now.
Meh, neither are a lot crappier players that are on NHL lineups, see Rinaldo for example.
Thanks!

Those two were mostly for fun but I think they could play, that'd be a tough 4th line and Peluso could rip some faces off! The boy could skate, fight and had a shot as hard as Buff's, wish they'd kept him over that useless ****ing Thorburn! If Rinaldo can play then so can Peluso!.. 😃

I think zads for a 3rd liner of similar age is fair value. Copp would be a fair trade,

This is assuming Avs don’t make a Big move this offseason but based on Namestnikov clicking and him fitting on mackinnons line so well, their wouldn’t be room for copp or Lowry

But spirit of the trade in a bubble I would do a copp for zads

Isles decline. I’d trade pulock + bellows for ehlers/Connor and a 3rd, but isles won’t trade both pulock and beau (who has been our best two way winger this season). Pionk wouldn’t do well in trotz system.

i really like the team but what would you do with the expansion draft? i'd assume you go 7f/3d but then you lose zadorov.

In division trade is proably not happening.
Ryan Strome is really risky and what's the cost both in terms or acquisition and contract, not sure he's worth the risk.
Habs fans want arms, legs and first borns for Domi.
Tampa will figure out their cap issues, they always do, Cirelli isn't going anywhere.

Then it depends on Chevy and Bergy if they can figure a trade good for both side
Won’t be easy but they are good friends

Well if this actually happened I'd protect the top 6 forwards and Harkins, Anderson would proably walk in free agency anyway, would proably send Seattle a mid round pick to select Copp and stay away from Zadorov as Morrissey, Cernak and Pulock would be protected but if that didn't work the Jets have a bunch of good D prospects so one would likely replace Zadorov the following season if he was picked by Seattle instead of Copp.

Avs decline. Winnipeg are a division rival so I'm not keen on moving Zadorov there. His game is tailor made to defend against transition teams like Colorado.
You'd have to pay a little bit more than this to get him, as I think teams in the east (eg. NJ) would match this easily. The picks being in 2021 and 2022 isn't ideal either.

it's already a really strong offer but i would also prefer to keep zadorov out of the central.

Hard to tell, he is a good 2C with grit and everything you want, just need to get better defensively and in the faceoff circle.

What is worth or what Bergevin would want

Vesalainen + 1st rd pick + taking Perreault contract is good

But where we sit right now, we need a player to help us now for Domi. Or we are taking a big step back

That's what I thought Rich but a guy can dream about not having a D core that's full of runts... 😃

Think we've discussed this before but even beyond the in division factor it doesn't appear the Jets would have anything the Avs might want anyway.
What would need to be added?

Different topic but was Colin Wilson scratched this season or just hurt the majority of it? If injured what was the injury?

What do you see in Copp that you think would make him better suited to this team than Compher or Jost as 3C (because presumably that's the role he'd be filling).

Worth keeping in mind the Expansion draft as well, whereby Copp would be exposed. Maybe best to get picks for Zadorov with that in mind.

2nd + 3rd would get matched by eastern teams but maybe 2 2nd's could work for Zadorov from Winnipeg. Would you be willing to do that? Without giving it too much thought, maybe something along the lines of 2nd + 4th + Chisholm could work as an alternative.

Wilson got injured but it's never been disclosed what the injury is. Avs fans have an inside joke about Wilson being dead because we just don't know anything about him since he got injured mysteriously.

I'd be willing to do either of those suggestions, might want/haggle for a late round pick like a 6th or 7th if it's the Chisholm deal but that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
