buffalo really isnt a place to dump cap, but if you are trying to, our positions of need are middle 6 center, middle 6 rw, and depth left d. We dont need left wing or right d- like at all, and we wouldnt be looking at cap dumps in net.

As a fellow Sabres fan, I just think Hjalmarsson is a good fit with our young D like Dahlin, Jokhiharju and Ristolainen. I would move Montour & Miller in order to fit Hjalmarsson, who can play either side, has won multiple cups and can play smart hockey to allow someone like Dahlin to really flourish offensively.

Its an overpay for an expiring deal with a large AAV. Either the 2nd or Asplund, not both

True. The problem is that it requires probably a few moves to clear room, im fine with it if you can move a couple rhd out- for something like middle 6 forwards or a vet lhd coming back. Its asking a lot from a new gm, theres probably 30 gms trying to get him on the phone just to "get one over on the new guy".

RIZONA COYOTES
– 16 players signed for 2020-21
– Projected cap space: $1.51 million
– Projected LTIR players: Marian Hossa, $5.28 million

While I like the idea of getting Hjalmarsson, the Coyotes are in no position to ASK for any thing in return for a pure cap dump.
There are only a few teams next year that can take on a cap dump so the bidding will get very high to take on unwanted players.
Patrick Marleau was traded WITH first round pick after scoring 16 goals and 21 assists and 37 points with only one year remaining on his $6,250,000 salary
Only a fool would give up a 2nd and decent prospect for Hjalmarsson's 5 points.
